Tottenham have had their plans to redevelop White Hart Lane approved by the Mayor of London Boris Johnson.

The Mayor had the power to overturn last month's decision by Haringey Council to grant planning permission for the 56,000-seater stadium.
But Johnson backed the council which means the £450m redevelopment of White Hart Lane will go ahead unless the government decides to intervene.

Spurs have also registered an interest in moving to the 2012 Olympic Stadium.
And with government intervention seeming unlikely, Tottenham must decide whether to press ahead with redeveloping White Hart Lane, which is called the Northumberland Development Project or pursue the Olympic Stadium option.

Rival London club West Ham are also interested in becoming tenants at the venue in Stratford after the Olympic Games end at the end of summer 2012.

After giving Tottenham's plans his approval, Johnson wrote to Haringey Council, saying: "I am content to allow Haringey Council to determine the case itself, subject to any action that the Secretary of State may take, and do not therefore wish to direct refusal or to take over the application for my own determination."

I bet they are!

Well played Lev.

I pref the Olympic Stadium but I do like the way he played hardball after jumping through hoops for a year.

Thank god for that, hopefully we can put to rest this Stratford rubbish sooner rather than later.

Anyone know what happens next with the process?

Dont get too excited. It doesn't mean we're definitely going ahead with it. Just that we can if we wish too. But it is going to cost a lot of money if we go through with it. So not 100% certain as yet.

i agree with you million. Still, its great to have this option. I think Levy knows how important it will be to the fans to stay local, and will take this option unless if costs significantly more to stay in the area.

by significantly I assume you mean more than the current estimated difference of £210 million (460 NDP - 250 OS)?

I can still see us moving as the stadium at the OS will be b/n 60,000 & 80,000 and the transport links at WHL just can't cope with more than 56,000 apparently

We don't need between 60-80k. We didn't even sell out last night.

Where did you get the figure for the cost of the Olympic site development from?

by all accounts West Ham are big favourites to take over the OS, I would rather us stay put but I am very much open to the move if all things assessed it is deemed the best option for the club.

Good to see the plans being approved as at the very least it gives us more options to review.

It will be 80,000, 55,000 of which will removed after the Games.

Even when the Lane could hold 65,000, we very rarely achieved anything like that.

move, i say, move. if it is in the best interest of the financial future of the club. Levy's statement did say it was like 7 miles i think from tottenham. i don't think they were playing a game in registering their interest in the OS. Levy clearly states he will not saddle the club with an eternity of debt.

Try get a ticket to any Cat A or B game at the lane if you're not a member etc... I get my tickets through season ticket holding mates.

My figure is a guesstimate based on West Ham's estimate of £100m for the redesign and multiplied it by 250%. Which is a fairly safe bet after you've taken into account revenues against the cost like naming rights etc... Unless there is a massive spike in construction costs I can't see it being £400 million plus

Ah, okay, I just didn't know if there was something out there that I'd missed.

Think it's difficult to even guess what the costs of the OS would be, given the complete lack of information as to what our plans would entail.

Karren Brady says the conversion costs of the OS would be up to £180 million: http://tinyurl.com/35qxgez

What's the source for the £100m figure?

Also, £100m to £250m is a 150% increase. Using your formula, a 250% increase would be £350m.

Good new on the approval, shows that all the plans are spot on. Levy has kept his options open which is good to see, i favour Stratford myself but it would be great to see the costings for both sites to compare.

I am prepared for some flak for this, sooooooooo

(takes deep breath)

How about the OS as a groundshare with the Spammers and splitting the costs??

the £100 million came from a newspaper so I can understand the variation.

True, I did think I was wrong when I put 150% and changed it but I forgot I added the word increase. but atleast, mistakes aside, you can follow my logic.
