I think I prefer a player like BAE at his best because he looked more in control of what was going on.

Danny Rose, who I like a lot, doesn't look quite so in control, as if he's a bit more dependent on the ball falling right for him. It may be because he's so much quicker though, which often is a great asset of course, so it's a hard comparison to make.

At their vey best, perhaps BAE just shades it, but even then it's a question of who else is in the team around them. Too close to call, is my stunning conclusion.
this.

I prefer Rose, so much energy down the left side like having a wingback. BAE was only ever a decent fullback at best.

Rose needs to improve his crossing and build on last season to be clearly better though.

I think Rose was better last season than most give him credit for.
Did a lot of damage down that side and managed some pretty impressive tackling as well.

Benny better at his peak, but we're yet to see Rose's.
And I think Rose suit our current team better as well,
in Redknapp's side it's the other way around.

Thanks, no idea why people have so much trouble answering a straightforward question.

Well, to be fair dcm, the title does say " who WAS better at their best." What others are saying is that we haven't seen Rose's best yet, so the question is flawed and premature. Whilst I get where you're at, the title is somewhat confusing in that respect.

Just an observation mate. :)

If you want to take it that way go ahead. Most have read the post and understand it for the simple, straightforward question that it is.

And I was one of them. Don't get narky, I wasn't criticising, just making an observation on why others have possibly misunderstood.

Rose.

I think his game has more facets to it and when we're comparing best to best it means Rose is fully on (his main problem being consistency and derp moments) and when that's happening there actually aren't many fullbacks better. He has it all in his locker, it's just always been a matter of how he puts it together.

BAE was always a really good player who lacked just a little something. Perhaps the easiest to pin it on is "commitment". But he just never seemed to grow as a player.

But on the days when it all came together he was an amazing fullback. So he wins that contest.

Perhaps the better question is which of the two is better on the days when they weren't at their best.

I'm going to say BAE, but he had Bale playing just in front of him which possibly made him look a better player than he was.

Benny for me. In Harry's last season he was incredibly consistent and assured at the back, and also contributed a lot with his passing which was usually very positive and attacking.

Rose has changed my opinion of him with some great attacking performances, but I still never feel entirely comfortable with his defending.

Fair to say that Benny's personality won me over as well. How can you not love this guy...

Bae so far but I think rose has the potential to be the better player.

I like how aggressive rose has become and what nasty little bugger he is. He still doesn't close down crosses enough, just like bae, and he also makes too many rash challenges.

But I'd put him in the top 5 left backs in the league.

Rose is more consistent. BAE always had a wtf moment in him that not only cost us games but possibly a cl place.
Rose does need to do better at getting back, he's not a winger.
BAE caused us a CL place? Bullocks. Considering he was part of a squad that was instrumental in our qualifying for and participating well in our only CL year of participating, your opinion is wack. While it's difficult to separate BAE and Rose, continue to let your dislike for BAE get in the way of any sensible argument

I'm talking of when he could have let the ball run out for a throw in (against City?), but instead hoofed it straight to them and they scored.

He had plenty of wtf moments. Liked him as a person but he was dangerous as a defender at times.

If you had asked us a year ago I would have laughed at this question. Rose was dogshite back then.

Now he had a really good season actually, and it's hard to seperate them. If he can keep that up, I'd say he just edges it, but once he goes back to his calamituos errors from 2 seasons back, I'd defo go for BAE.

I never got the 'personality' thing. Sure he had an Afro. And? He was always bitching and moaning in the press and his behaviour in the last World Cup was disgusting. Add to that his exclusion from the club and it seems pretty clear to me the bloke is a bit of a ****.

Benny was different gravy compared to Rose. But everyone loves a trier and Rose is certainly one of those
