our transfer policy will most definitely change this january if we are in a similar position to what we are in now. so who would you sign?

i would go for:

michael mancienne: looks a top notch centre back for the england u21's and has said that he may need to leave chelsea to get games as he's never even featured in the league for them.

michael kightly: i like this kid, he may not be first eleven for the u21's and he may not be a prolific goalscorer, but i see him as a striker more in the robbie keane mould, dropping deep to make things happen and he's got a good touch, plsu can play on the wing.

Its hard to say who we could buy unless we know the situation we are in. If we are rock bottom come jan, its going to be very hard to persuade players to come and join us, especially with our wage structure. Cant do a newcastle and offer a million quid a week.

Surely we need a bit of experience don't we? Kightly and Mancienne are good young players but would they add some steel to our likely relegation battle....I'm not too sure about that! Players we should be going for should be over 25, have good leadership qualities and have pace and strength, as we already have too many lightweights (both mentally and physically) and really don't need any more. I mentioned Lee Carsley in the summer and although some may have laughed, that tough b#stard holiding player with experience is exactly what we could do with now.

Dan, if we are in this position in January. Youve got more chance of getting handcuffed to a ghost than signing those 3.

We wont be though. String a few wins together and we'll be pushing mid table soon enough.

Arshavin was obviously all in place on deadline day bar the final deal with Zenit and should still happen in Jan if we are away from relegation and still in the cups.

Inler is apparently going to be dining at Chez Comolli this week ;-)

Crespo is just warming the bench at Inter, so would likley come for 6 months and a last pay day.

How do you know we wont be?? No one does. You going with the myth we are to good to go down.

No one is too good to go down. This has been proven numerous times. We need a change!!!

Agreed, but we couldn't get him as the reason he leftEverton was to spend time with his sick wife in Brum.

Yup, we need a change. We need fans who believe in and support our team fully. To back them vocally at every match, home and away. We need fans who simply are not prepared to consider, or even mention, relegation in fucking October!!

As for the original question, I felt mkkid's call was pretty good.....Owen, Huntelaar, and Gattuso. I would imagine Huntelaar could be tricky. Owen would probably bite our hand off to get out of St. James and Gattuso would be do-able. Also like Dans idea of Crespo on loan. As he said he is not getting a game at the moment and is still mre than capable of bagging a few goals.

Mind you, I'd love it if they went all out for Sergio Aguero !!

No, we need a break, that's all. I think there's actually a lot of parallels with the 2004-5 season. Although we grinded a few results out earlier on, we lost 6 in a row and we looking pretty deseperate come the end of November when we were sitting 15th or 16th. Then things started to gel, all Arnesen's signings found their feet and we quickly shot up to 7th within a few weeks and only missed out on UEFA in the last week or two of the season.

Relegation usually happens in May fella :razz:.

Seriously though, I'll sing my heart out every game, and never boo or hiss when I'm supporting my team, but I do consider relegation a possibility judged on our current performances, however I sure as hell won't go running around jumping on the "panic stations" train. We just have to believe in the team as you say, and support them no matter what!

To dare is to do, well lets start daring, and we might start doing!

Interesting 3 players. Inler is especially strange as I remember very well that he wasn't even on the cards during the summer. He is out of form right now and not being as influential as he was last season. Is his meeting with Comolli anything to do with us playing against Udinese?

Personally I don't think it is about the personnel in particular. If anything we need to sign another striker and a defensive cover but way before the window opens in January we need to learn to play as a team and find a style of football that suits us. Add to that some belief and some passion, which has to start with us the fans and we will start to turn it around without the fantasy players.

Up front, one from Amr Zaki, Michael Owen, Emile Heskey, Roque Santa Cruz.

At the back? One from Matthew Upson, Linvoy Primus (short-term), Sami Hyypia (short-term).

We desperately need players who know the premier league. Who have done it, and can step in and do a job immediately.

Oh, and I completely agree we need the fans to actually support the team.

To be fair, I've been very proud to say I'm a yid because no one is really calling for Ramos' head. I know it's because we've made our scapegoat in Commolli, but even so... we're sticking with a manager who's got a shocking record for us. And so we bloody should.

Despite the lack of points, we're actually playing some nice stuff. Keeping the ball really well. Just lack any penetration.

Shit, straying off the point.
