Why have we weakened the squad?

Pav, Pienaar , Corluka, Bassong all wanted to go. Pienaar never played anyway and Kranjcar is better. Saha cannot be any worse than Pav though I would have preferred Roddiega . Kaboul will probably play RB when Walker is out. I also think Sandro could be a pretty good central defender. He is too good to stay on the bench unless he is going to rotate with Parker who is going to need some breaks here and there.

shifting out best CB this year to the right because we didnt have a bit of foresight isnt very good

saha can be alot worse than pav if he isnt available for selection

and sandro isnt a CB, any old player cant just fill in at CB against most prem teams

bad window, there's no excuses for it

Weakened the squad.

Saha for Pavlyuchenko is such a strengthening it's not even worth discussing the rest.

Anyone would think that the football club is solely about trading players? Just so you know, we won tonight. And we're 5 points of the top of the league.

Yeah. They don't know what they're doing.

 Beyond

Exactly. In order to cover rb we have to weaken CB? that is foolish. I wouldn't mind if we didn't have 2 prem quality right backs on our books.

you guys seem to be ignoring the elevation of Cameron Lancaster to the first team! That could be the end of all our worries.

Fella have you seen Saha play recently (and not 6 years ago)

He is not that good and Everton fans are pleased to see him go

I'm glad you're confident Stoof. I just see a team with no right back now.

gk: as you were

rb: we're now down to one and he looks like he's just picked up an injury. weakened.
cb: whatever you think of bassong(i personally quite like him), atleast he was actually, you know, able to play, unlike nelsen who hasn't played in a year. weakened.
lb: same

rw/lw: pienaar gone. weakened
cm: same

fw: pav gone, replaced with saha who has scored the same as pav this season in about 15x as many minutes. thankfully it's only a 6 month deal so we're not stuck with the deadweight.
i cant remember the last time, fans of a club where happy to see a player we signed, leaveEek

Yeh rightback is a bit of a worry, was chatting to my old man on the phone earlier and he was saying 'What happens when Walker gets injured' and I laughed it off saying we would be fine... feeling less confident now.

eh?

what is there in saha's goal scoring record and assist record that makes him such a big stregthening out of curiosity? plus the fact he is always injuried, dont really see it im afraid

plus who's saying the club dont no what tehy are doing, yeah we are 3rd yeah our 1st 11 or so players are doing great. some of us are just questioning why we've weekened the squad which it has which ever way you spin it

I felt the same initially but how long have we been banging on about having a great squad? Truth is, we rarely need a bunch of them. Yes you can say "in case" but that is not often enough compared to what we are paying them.

Pav
08-09: 5 goals in 28 league appearances
09-10: 5 in 16
10-11: 10 in 29
11-12: 1 in 5

Saha
08-09: 6 in 24
09-10: 13 in 33
10-11: 7 in 22
11-12: 1 in 18

Hardly seems like an upgrade considering Saha's age and injury problems.

if saha can cover wide right with his [pace then he could be useful. nelson good player and extra height

He can't though mate. His legs would explode in 45 minutes. He is a useful striker though and good in the air (unlike pav)

Will be interesting to see his stats for us.

You statistic whores.

Watch the football. Not the fucking numbers.

Saha is a busy bastard. He gets in amongst it. Wins headers, has a first touch, has hold up play.

In fact, I saw him doing that at the Lane a couple of fucking weeks ago.

I watch football. Full football matches. I don't look at fucking numbers.

I've watched Pavlyuchenko give ball after ball to the opposition. Miss headers, miss easy chances, miscontrol the ball OVER AND OVER again.

If you watch how our team plays, you'll have noticed that Mr Adebayor brings players into the game. Hence our former left back scoring two, and Modders scoring the other this evening. Oh yeah - we won.

Firstly, it's for 15 games (plus maybe a few more cup games). So it's not exactly an eternity, but he'll be fresh, keen and wanting to get game time.

Pav didn't give a flying fuck. Still doesn't - as my mate John (and his wife) regularly tells me when he has lunch with him and his wife. He was here for the pay day.

He's just not good enough.

Which of the two has played for Manchester United? Which of the two has a Premier League winners medal? Which one has more experience in our league?

If you ask me nicely, I'll give you the answer.

saha was quality at fulham and man u - should be hungry for it and a stab at CL next season - has something to prove. for me he is a clinical finisher and was superb at goodison against last year - will be interesting to see pecking order with defoe - all round if fit he maybe a better all round fit to our style of play than defoe.

wonder if he will be able to play up top on his own if ade injured.

also good to see nico get a game -
