We have redcafe folks telling us why we're constantly 'fucking up' eh?
We have some of our own supporters saying how we're 'fucking up' by signing Keane, etc, eh?

Well I'm here to explain why it's fucking GREAT supporting Spurs, why we embody EVERYTHING football should be about, and why I will ALWAYS be PROUD to support the club (as well as WHY I frankly have no choice in the matter)...

We are dashing, fun, attractive and sometimes brilliant. We are inconsistent, over-fanciful, infuriating and under-achieving. We'll never go the full hog and find a fat sugar daddy to feed the pig that is fan expectation Man Shitty or Chelski style, yet we'll always spend just enough money for us to get excited about every poxy window and get linked with every single great player in international football. We occasionally play the PERFECT game of football for 90-plus minutes. When we have a famous win, we do it in style and/or at the biggest venues. When we fuck-up, it is tragedy of epic proportions, the sort designed to have you kicking things and possibly shedding a tear or two of rage.

We are pure, 100% entertainment. Whichever way you slice it, and in whatever context you like, Tottenham Hotspur are always tremendous entertainment.

Our unpredicatability is part of the ride. If you want to 'enjoy' trophy after trophy bought with billions by foreign owners, well you have choices. But for those of us who remember all the flair which has worn the shirt, the old shelf, the old west stand, park lane and paxton, who remember the wood heaving under the weight of 48,000-plus, who remember the glory glory nights like 84 and the grim nights like Notts County away in 92/93, who remember 'those' goals against Man City and the scum at Wembley, you all know that the pain is part of the pleasure with this club, and that if it wasn't, we wouldn't be Spurs.

It might never ever be different. So take my advice, settle back and ENJOY the weird and wonderful ride this club will take you on during your lifetime.

Off soapbox now!!!!!!

good stuff steff (hey that schounds Dutch)

have schome rep :)

Thanks mate...I just get really really ground down by the depressing negativity sometimes. The constant 'we've fucked up' stuff...common sense says that we need more goals. We got probably the two best strikers in the country who were available yet people still think we fucked up. We addressed our midfield issues as best we could (Downing was the one we couldn't get), we have s superb #2 keeper who can easily be #1 without worry, and we got a defender who knows us and can play across the back four (I hate what I know if Chims as a person but as a player? Good fit)...

I get as angry as the next person, but frankly that's PART of being a Spurs supporter. It's never perfect, jewels in the rough and all that...but christ, that's part of the deal here...as you obviously also know mate.
Be well and COYS!!!!

Best read I've had on here for ages, superb.

I love supporting this club, that will never change and I'm pretty made up at the moment after the return of Robbie.

Lets hope Saturday will be a glory, glory day for us. I can feel it already.

Maybe the players should come out onto the pitch to the tune of 'the Entertainer'. Spurs have never exactly been wall flowers.

No one ever knows which Tottenham are going to turn up, least of all the players themselves. OK we've been mostly awful this season, but thats not to say we are not capable of demolishing the gooners this weekend (in style, obviously). Obviously we are just as capable of getting turned over as well, but thats all part and parcel of T.H.F.C. The most consistently inconsistent team in England!

thats a good post and I agree with you

but also we are a bit of a joke in the premier league years and I think the redcafe stuff was a decent-ish read because it was good to get a genuine non-yid view on us.

But your right, too many people bitch and moan and complain, this isn't football manager and spurs have never ever been really a league side. The week to weekness of league football is just too...normal and boring for us. We've alwasys been a cup side, who on our day would play anyone off the park!

We may never ever make it to the CL but frankly I don't care, its always interesting being a Spurs fan. The club never has and never will forget its traditions (unlike liverpool who didnt but have recently), and thats why I love Spurs

You're right mate, the redcafe thread was actually a decent read considering the source (there again, whatever we think about Man U they ARE a proper football club, at least when they steal out players they pay the top whack and then have the decency to use them properly and treat them well unlike Benitez)...and yes mate, you're right, it is (and always has been) interesting...

we need more threads like this, this is what being a spurs supporter is all about, no other supporters get the feeling like we get when we talk about -

west ham 3 - spurs 4

spurs 4 - aston villa 4

spurs 6 - reading 4

spurs 4 - chelsea 4

arsenal 4 - spurs 4

because no other teams are constantly involved in such high scoring, end to end, exciting games that your just happy your team was a part of

Quality writing, nice to see that there are some others still on this site who love Spurs for the Glory, who remember when it wasn't all about getting into the 'Champions' League.

It's all about the Glory for me, the most painful moments only serve to make the victories all that much sweeter.

Wembley '91, Anfield in the quarters of the FA Cup and Ar5ena1 - makes me glad my dad was a Yiddo, and his father before him...

You've cheered me right up - have some rep

The players that have graced the shirt - anonymous when it's muddy knees time, but when there's a hum on the terrace, an electrical buzz throeing around the stadium, when one of ours does something special, that's when I love the feeling I get when I watch my Spurs, my Tottenham Hotspur.

As long as harry plays flat 4-4-2, where the team goes to attack and not just contain a team by playing a boring 4-5-1 then i'm happy regardless of league position.

Ever since I was a kid, my old man has always said that supporting Spurs is character building. He usually repeats that whilst walking away from the game after snatching defeat from the jaws of victory. Again.

He also says that instead of bringing back National Service, they should just make people support Spurs for 2 years!

I disagree. I think the problem is that we haven't addressed the LW situation.

Only joking - loving the sentiment of your post.
