There will be plenty of games were we don’t dominate possession and territory and games were its similar. We’re still going to need players good in transition and players that can break the lines without the ball

Actually watching Johnson in the championship he got in behind plenty even when they had a lot more of the ball. He’s got good feet and can pick a pass. I’ve said it before but I’m surprised the majority on here think he’s poor. He would of stretched Brentford’s defence far more than we managed on Sunday

I quite liked Johnson, I think he's a decent player but he's not good enough for the level we want to get back to and he's definitely a transitional player.

His passing and dribbling stats were also horrendous last year, backing up what I said imo.

Regardless of my feelings towards him this link feels like a move to try and get Everton to pay up. Until someone credible links us I’m not going to even bother thinking about him potentially joining.

Seriously though, if we’re gonna be making puns (like, duh!) can we at least establish whether it’s Gnonto as in gnocchi, gnosis, or gnu?

So he'd be backup to Solomon, who's backup to Perisic, who's backup to Son. It's a Gno from me.

If he comes, Gnonto wont be back up to Solomon.

Italy national team very rarely gives debut to teenagers. And Gnonto has 11 senior caps - he is just 19.

Even Udogie doesn't have a Italy senior cap yet.

Gnonto for me has all the attributes for a world class forward. His questions were always about his height & physicality. He showed last season in PL, how robust he is. The progressive carries he has , is all from driving up field riding over challenges.

Only concern is about him not wanting to play for Leeds anymore and not training. Being petulant. May be he is wrongly advised by his agent.

Otherwise, if Ange wants him & price is right, we should go for him. His ceiling way high up....

reading this thread does make me wonder if some of you actually watch football. This kid is 19 and was absolutely mustard in a garbage leeds side last year... oh yeah and he has 11 caps for Italy yet most of you are acting like he is some random from league 1.

You got some statistical evidence to back that up?

I hear you, but he is an Italian international footballer - how many of them muck it in the Championship? You can understand him wanting to move

I'm sure I saw somewhere that he'd been told he needed to move to stand a chance of going to the Euros?

Everton believed to be frontrunners. Gnonto has refused to play their last two matches and is now training away from the team as he awaits a move.

I think he is exactly the type of profile Ange looks for on the wings. He can beat a man, play in real tight spaces, and has very quick feet allowing him to get his shots off quickly. His playing style and build actually remind me a lot of Solomon.
I'd argue that someone refusing to play isn't the sort of character Ange is after

Have there ever been any links to him? Seems well liked on here - can't say I've ever watched him
Would be interesting to see if Nico Williams ever leaves. Being a basque player at Atheltic and having his brother play there might make it difficult for him to move over here.

Tbh honest I know so little about Gnonto that I have no right to express an opinion. The lure of the pun was too strong for me though.

Good player, very raw but did some great stuff with Leeds last year. Prefer him to Johnson at Forest.
Yep would suit Ange's style of football better and would be far better value and has a higher ceiling.

If Johnson wasn't homegrown I doubt he'd be a consideration at all.
