Will another London club overtake us?

Fuck me, people panicking and already making hasty decisions, including dumb ass pundits. It's only 10 games into the season and we are only 3 point behind West Hame. Chill out

I am not saying that.

We may well finish above them, Im not sure. They are playing well and we are not and I dont see much difference in the quality between the two sides. We will see I guess.

My concern is more mid to long term. They will soon be playing in a 56,000 seater stadium in an excellent location. Meanwhile we do not seem to be making much progress. 2021 after 2 years in MK scares me.

Jimbo, I'd never dismiss your posts as spam. I might disagree with them sometimes but they are very valid

I understand that people might not agree with my opinions but what is it with the spam ratings? I dont think what I am saying is that bizarre. I am genuinely concerned another London club after small time Chelsea will overtake us.

I appreciate I am not as popular on here as other posters and thanks to many of you I was banned for a couple of weeks (Fair enough I did go a little OTT during the embrassement of another stuffing from a far from decebt City side) But I care passionately about THFC and I put my views on here a Spurs fan forum! Heaven forbid.

Ok you might not agree with my views I can take that but Spam?! Why is it spam?

If we all thought the same this place would be rather boring!
It's not what you say, it's the constant repetition of the same thing every 5 seconds. You've said all this before in other threads. We get it. You hate ENIC and so do many others. However, you spam every thread with the same stuff and you're now starting your own threads saying the same stuff. It's OK. We didn't forget that you hate ENIC and have tonnes of concerns during the weeks you were banned so you don't need to remind us.

But it's not necessarily stable. They are selling Upton Park to having to pay certain amount a year to use the Olympic Stadium. Those costs, I doubt will be covered by attendance cause I don't think they'll be able to fill up the stadium for most matches, plus if they aren't progressing through cups then that will be more difficult as well. I don't think something to get worried about just yet.

If some Russian dickhead came in and funded them then yes I would be concerned, but not at the mometn

Our current turnover is over £50m a year more than West Ham's. That's a big bridge to gap.

The only clubs that have been able to truly compete after being so far behind are City and Chelsea, who did it with a billionaire's money who had no regard for making money back on their investment.

We've been the next closest, finishing 4th twice but found it's a very tough ask to do it within budget.

West Ham have potentially got a helping hand with the OS. But that won't make up a £50m gap.

Jimbo raises a valid argument you may disagree with his opinion, but to deny him the right, to post this thread, is tantamount to cyber bullying.
You may find this difficult to comprehend, but you are not the chosen one.

Jimbo jimbo jimbo....... you sure have perfected the art of collecting neg reps with your new threads. Have yourself a couple of positives on me because it can't be denied you get people talking on here.

Anyhow, the obvious continual underlying tone is that you can't stand ENIC as despite all the good they have done us we have been slipping backwards over the couple of seasons.

Ok, fair enough, on the pitch that is true due to purchases not working out as hoped. You do seem to often overlook the fact that the club has invested in a state of the art training ground, has spent a lot on purchasing up land around The Lane and has had to deal with a rather large wage increase since our one and only foray into the Champions League.

So how do you propose ENIC, Lewis etc "just sell up" and let another investor come in and do better? I don't see many buyers queuing up to throw money into the club, even if ENIC were prepared to sell.

And also, don't you think the fact you automatically seem to think alternative owners will guarantee an improvement involves an awful lot of presumption on your behalf?. Hardly guaranteed.

Whatever your feelings about ENIC the fact remains that (Obviously IMO) once they are in their new stadium, it opens up the whole south eastern corner of the UK to them. The high speed rail link and whatnot will make their ground astonishingly easy to get to and very quickly too. They could easily become a serious danger to us at the very least and quite possibly to the top 4.

Providing the dildo brothers do it right. I'm not saying as an absolute certainty that it will happen, but I do think its very possible.

We need to take action now. I call upon every Spurs fan to do their part and stop buying dildos immediately.
Good point. MK Dons came out of nowhere and recently the BBC did a piece about British fans traveling to Schalke to watch games because it was cheaper than watching EPL games.

803 spam ratings for what you have said is of course totally over the top, it's nothing compared to what some others have said. I wouldn't worry about the spam ratings the avalanche of it is just to try and stop you posting.
Keep posting what you want to post.

Some posters get fixated on a certain point and discuss it a lot, hardly the worst crime on the internet.

Don't see how the OP gets so many spam ratings for discussing his own thread.

I think it's an interesting question and would like it discussed. We've seen 2 smaller clubs get billionaire owners and become league champions.

Outside of that Spurs have been the front-runner for clubs trying to break the top four barrier by living within our means.

Everton went for a model of continuity and keeping the same manager and players as much as possible for a long time. While this has meant they've done well for their budget they haven't successfully challenged the top four for a long time now.

Villa under O'Neill got three sixth place finishes but were living outside their means and had to cut back massively and have been insignificent ever since.

We've finished 4th twice but through more ambitious in the transfer market we've created key players, lost them then couldn't replace them and built an inconsistent model.

Many believe getting a stadium is the only way we can really compete without a sugar-daddy taking over.

West Ham now have that. They are in an area that is being heavily invested in and will be easy to travel to. Could they take advantage of this and close the gap on those above them? I don't see it but in the long-term it could happen.

There are a lot of people spamming this thread and it's not the OP. What many are doing is cyber-bullying and hurting debate, not creating it.

No it's not. Search posts with "West Ham" in them written by you and you'll see that I'm right. Whatever. I don't know why I'm wasting my time with you anymore.

I'm not denying him anything. I'm not stopping him from creating this thread. The use of 'Cyber bullying' is just laughable. Next you'll be telling me the rating his posts spam is bullying as well.

Not only that, but the fact that you've used it in this context shows you don't know the meaning of the term. It's kind of shitting on the people who are actually cyber-bullied.

Oh I've met a number of hard core west ham fans.

The new stadium and some good results wouldn't make them rival us. But it would make them prime targets for a billionaire looking for a premier league team. Olympic stadium, right next to the city, canary wharf, London city airport, they are ripe for a takeover.

Spot on.And it's a possible Roman/Mansour type takeover which should have us at least looking over our shoulder.
It would be naive, arrogant and complacent of us to completely ignore them as a threat once
They get the Olympic stadium.

West Ham may get a bigger stadium ... but they won't bloody fill it.

They can't even sell out the Boleyn at the moment.

They may not fill it week in week out but with a mixture of genuine fans, corporates and tourist I can see them getting at least 48k every wk.

4th team in London? Nah.

With QPR building a new stadium too we'll be 5th.

I would be worried if they were taken over by someone with deep pockets after moving into their new stadium, just like what happened with Man City

Some of you seem very dismissive of in my eyes a very real threat to us.
In the last 30 years the status of our club has diminished.
We are currently in the worst period of success in our history (1 trophy in 15 year)
What have Sunderland, Sheff Wed, Middlesborough, Newcastle, Villa, Southampton, Millwall, West Ham, Cardiff, Portsmouth, Everton, Stoke City, Wigan, and Hull got in common? They have all been in an FA Cup final more recently than us?! And we are supposed to have a huge FA Cup pedigree, Disgusting when you look at it like that.
We have seen 2 other London clubs forge ahead of us.
Our stadium is no longer one of the elite stadia and no longer fit for purpose
Our stadium plans are at the moment a pipe dream and it will of taken ENIC 20+ years to find a solutions (If they get the thing even built by 2021)

We have already seen another smaller club than us Chelsea overtake us and i can see it happening again with West Ham I really can.

Think some people need to wake up and smell the coffee.

ENIC should of seen this very real threat years ago and done something about it or if they are incpable (In my view they are) then should sell to someone who can take this once great club a sleeping giant forward before its too late,
How is it a "very real threat"?

The game is all swings and roundabouts. Teams rise and teams fall, it's the nature of the game, a string of good results for us and losses in a row for the spammers and the natural way of the universe will be restored. It's not like the spammers are going to be the next Chelsea or Arsenal (neither are we quite honestly), but at the moment they are punching above their weight, that's all.

Lot of jimbo panic over nothing.
