i know that transfers will not be Poch's sole choice, but im sure he would have joined on the premise that there will be investment in the team over the summer.

Do you think that Levy will follow his trend over the last few years of breaking even at the end of the window or will we actually see an outlay?

Assuming the former..How can we generate funds? ... Surely we will need part with some of our midfielders

Dembele
Paulinho
Capoue
Sandro
Eriksen
Holtby
Lamela
Sigurdsson
livermore
Carroll
Lennon
Townsend
Chadli
Bentaleb

..Surely we should be moving a good few of those on

I think the point is that we wanted a coach who can work with what is already here as levy truly believes the money spent last Sumner has created a squad worthy of great things.

So no he won't be backed with any great sum imo. Maybe a lb and a cheap cb

I don't want to spend loads of money. Buying loads of players doesn't work, this season proved that if nothing else.

I want a CB, a LB, and to sell a few of the fringe. That's it.

Of the midfielders, we could easily sell Livermore and sig and not really weaken ourselves. I would like poch to run the rule over the rest before deciding on their future.

In addition, rose and daws could go, and we'll need to bring in a LB CB and striker. I think poch has most of the players necessary to work with, I don't want to see another season wasted by bedding in lots of signings. My main concern is keeping our better players

I think this is the wrong question.

Question is how many of the key players can Levy keep hold and give a chance to Pochettino to remold the squad.
Our squad strengthen is high & there is huge quality as well. Problem is, nearly 8 to 10 players in squad who under performed massively.

Pochettino doesn't need too many new players . He needs time. There are gaps especially in defensive department, which needs to be addressed. But other than that, even if we keep the current squad, there is huge scope for improvement.

Personally id like to see us invest in a new LB (keeping Rose as a backup) .. i also wouldn't sell Dawson as when we have our inevitable CB crisis midway through the season, Daws is always a good one to cover those domestic/europa cups and more straightforward prem games...The way i see it, why get rid of players like Dawson/Rose/Naughton .. how many replacements of better quality could we get in that would be happy as backups... id say you'd be hard pushed

i do think we need another CB to replace Kaboul, id really love Garay from Benfica..he still hasn't been sold and I really rate him

finally, a striker ..Id love to see Bony, Remy or Lukaku to complement Soldado and Adebayor (if hes still here)

as far as midfielders go, we surely cant keep all 14 of those listed above happy ?

Who says we have to break even, with the tv money we have more to spend, last season we never got to spend it because of the bale transfer was so big and came too late

But that's a debate for another thread.....

I wouldn't be surprised to see a striker signing. Maybe a prospect rather than a recognisable name.

If the ITK about Pochettino being the Joe Lewis's choice is correct, then there's reason enough to hope so.

But then there's always reason to hope.

Given we pretty much blew the entire Bale proceeds received last season on Soldado, Lamela, Paulinho, Eriksen, Capoue (Chriches buy and Caulker sale was a wash); I'm not expecting a large transfer kitty given to Pochettino.

I would predict he gets a starting kitty of £15m + proceeds of any sales of squad players not needed (Livermore etc). If he wants to cash in on Paulinho given Chelsea's interest that would give him an extra £30m if the amounts printed in the press are accurate. We may be able to get another £15-20m if Soldado wants to leave and head back to Spain.

We could get approximately 7,236,211,500 replacements that are better than Danny Rose.

There will be plenty of money to spend, should we decide to do so.

New TV money. New sponsorship deal. A small net gain on transfer activity last summer. Subsequent sale of Defoe. Added to which, there are certain to be further sales of those players we don't wish to keep. Hopefully no money from the sale of any players we do wish to keep, though (here's looking at you, Hugo).

So I definitely expect us to spend. Just not on a whole army of new players, as we did last summer.

IMO we should sell Livermore, Dembélé, Lennon, and potentially Siggi, would generate some nice funds to spend on some other more problematic areas i.e. LB or CF

£50m is what's been quoted. Seems about right considering the extra BT and Gareth Bale money.

I think that is more than enough. We dont need much strengthening I dont think.

I would be very happy with the just the following:

CB: Garay (15mil)
LB - Cole (Free)
LW - Konoplyanka (12mil)

Possible addition of a forward if Ade or Soldado move on, but im happy with our frontline as it is.

Left back, striker and i would love a left sided winger/midfielder to boot no more, we seen last year how difficult it can be to get new players in and ticking.

Levy had said that wont affect us financially with others saying it will be funded separately

Levy says a lot of things.

I think people are really setting themselves up for disappointment if the think we're going to actually make a heavy net spend. We haven't done so since Harry first came in and Levy shit his pants about possible relegation. Since then the Stadium has come into the picture.

I would be delighted if we suddenly changed tack but it will be sell to buy I'm sure.

But that might not be as big a problem as previously when we were selling truly world class players. As long as Lloris stays we will be ok. I don't want Verts to go but if he does he will fetch a big fee. Same with Paulinho. If we can make our money back on Soldado and sign Remy then that's win win imo. I'm sure Sig will be sold also and possibly others too.
