With Walker's injury and now surgery I'd rather we had held on to Yedlin rather than loaning him straight back to Seattle Sounders.

I guess that was a condition of the sale. :grumpy:

In addition, Hugo Lloris, Danny Rose and Harry Kane have all signed new long-term contracts with the Club.

No mention of Vertonghen. Worrying.

I'm resigned to losing any player who performs at a high standard from now until we have built a new ground. Lloris will probably leave at the end of the season regardless of a new contract.

Lloris keeps distributing the ball like he did Sunday he'll be out the bloody door anyway long before then. We have a quality keeper just waiting for a chance to take his spot so he better buck his ideas up.
I know it was just a bad day at the office but I've still got arse ache ok lol?

Now being negative
Harry wanted a top striker, he was given Saha (according to Harry)
AVB wanted Moutinho, he got Siggy
Poch wanted Musacchio, he got Fazio
Poch wanted Schneiderlin, he got Stambouli

I have read somewhere that over the last 5 seasons Spurs have a net transfer spend of £21M, the lowest of those that stayed in the Premiership in that time. Plus this transfer window where we come out at the end with a nice profit.
Now I know we have a stadium to build, and all the financial implications surrounding that, but I will feel a whole lot better about how it impacts our transfer spending when I can actually see the stadium rising out of the ground.

Let's give this some perspective shall we.
Harry was offered Suarez - He turned him down saying he didn't think he was of the required standard.
AVB asked for Moutinho - Levy agreed the fee with Sporting and to be dealt a blow with 3rd parties ownership.
Poch asked for Musacchio AND Fazio, not one but both - Levy delivered one and will likely be back in for the other in January.
Poch asked for Schneiderlin AND Stambouli - Got Stambouli but Southampton dug their heels in over Schneiderlin and asked for way over his value.

But hey why let context get in the way of an opportunity to slate Levy.

Problem with our underwhelming transfers this window, apart from our frugal nature, is we have too many deadwoods that had to be gotten rid off first before we buy; otherwise we would have too many players for a 25 man slot. Still, not picking up Welbeck at £16M seems scandalous. Perhaps Levy thinks Poch can transform Harry Kane into Danny Graham.

Welbeck is the polar opposite of Rooney; crap for club, great for country. Would have preferred remy at 2/3rds the price

True.
But money is issential to buy a class.
We can not buy a class without money.

After last summer, where we spent £100m on players who have yet to prove themselves in an over crowded squad, glad poch has stabilised the squad, trimmed off the fat - and can now focus on developing / coaching these players. If you want big money eye catching arrivals - go support city, Chelsea or utd. For me this window was a great price if business all round - and I'm looking forward to seeing us develop this new more enjoyable style of football. Hopefully next summer teams like utd will be cursing missing out on Stambouli - the most exciting incoming for me is Yedlin who I know we have to wait for but had a great WC and looks a real steal. Exciting times ahead. Levy please just hold the trigger for a while event in the inevitable bad times we will experience - what we need more than anything is stability in coaching and playing staff - not another £40m Carlos kickaball. Exciting times ahead

I wasn't slating Levy I was stating facts ,where as you appear to be assuming a lot. eg Fazio and Stambouli were always main targets and not Plan B.

So I will repeat so that you can understand, I realise that a new stadium has financial implications on transfers but I will feel a whole lot better in relation to that reality when I see the stadium rising up out of the ground. For the record I trust Levy more than anyone to get the stadium built without putting this club in financial jeopardy.

PS If you read the book 'the nowhere men' about scouting you will find out that multiple background checks are done on players in all areas of their lives apart from just the on field playing side. So 3rd party ownership should not come as a surprise.

Harry said no such thing. He said he was no better than what we had, which was wrong, but not that wrong.

Stambouli and Fazio were always main targets. This has been clarified by ITK on more than one occassion. So no assumptions on my part, if fact you are making the assumption in considering them as "Plan B signings"

So I will repeat so that you can understand, I realise that a new stadium......I understood the first time and I was responding to your points on signings not the stadium - maybe you didnt understand.

I am fully aware of how scouting system works as I have both played for a professional club and I have a relative who currently does. Background checks does not stop a 3rd party from changing their demands at the time minute, does it?

Fair point. Amendment made

But it still doesnt support the claim that Redknapp asked for a top level striker and got Saha. On the contrary, Redknapp was offered a top level striker and turned him down.

I agree with your point that money doesn't guarantee anything.
But Stoke were the lowest spenders in the league at £3.4m. Some clever frees/loans by the looks of it.
