What I always struggle to understand is, with our players, why we always seem to wait for month after month until deciding to opt for surgery? If I'm not wrong, we did it with Dembele and his foot problem in the season before the one that just finished. Waited months, he missed a fair whack because of it, played a bit part in the last few games & then got put in for surgery, meaning he ended up missing lots of pre-season, resulting in struggling for fitness when the season began.
Winks made just 3 appearances in 2018. The club finally tried painkilling injections in April, despite his last game being in February (I think?).
Why don't we just get them on the operating table & get them sorted asap?
Surgery should always be the last resort.
Surgery should always be the very last result, once you start with surgery its not as good as natural healing.
Take Ledley when he first had his knee injury... if I remember correctly he was rushed into surgery.
Note I am no doctor but I've heard this being said many at times from others about allowing the body to heal naturally. Another extreme example take c section apparently a woman is permitted to have a maximum of 3 C Sections whereas natural child berth is I suppose limitless...obviously the last example is extreme.
Don't get me wrong, I understand (and know from my own health issues) that surgery is the last resort. It just appears (from the outside looking in) that we seem to take quite a while to get to that point.
Maybe we need a better diagnosis at the "Get Go"
Seems we never get the correct and complete diagnosis early on in the injury. I understand there can be complications and things that are not obvious from the GG but as I'm sure top specialists are involved early, how comes these occur so often with our players' injuries..
(Sorry about the "Start" reference...… ) couldn't resist it after reading a different thread on here.
