With over 100 first team appearances and a year he describes as “probably my best season so far at the club” under his belt, it’d be fair to consider Academy product Harry Winks an established first team player at this point in time.

He ended up playing a lot in the more defensive role last season with Wanyama and Dier missing huge chunks. He did a great job although I think his natural role is more creative but it shows how versatile and adaptable he is. Would be great to see him lining up with Ndombele and/or LoCelso at some point. I think he's right to say it will be a struggle to get in the team though if all goes to plan.

I think if he could have an injury free season, he would be an automatic choice for Spurs and England.

Winks is one of our key players. I think this was clear from the matches he missed in the latter stages of last season. He doesn’t do a lot that is flashy, but he holds the whole midfield together the way Carrick did 13 years ago.

It doesn’t matter whom we sign: Lo Celso or Ndombele or both. Winks will still play.
