It literally doesn’t

Think of it as two different phases, the first tackle where he got touched the ball, but then after that greizmann still had the ball so when the follow though (think of it as a second tackle) comes in he’s been fouled
It wasn't a second tackle, it was his momentum.
Phases schmases....its nonsense thats what it is.
The games gone.

I don't get why the ref has to run off and check the screen personally. Why can't someone just tell him in his ear whether he's made a mistake or not?

Kills the rhythm of the game, and they still don't get the decision right

This I agree with completely. Trust the guys in the VAR who have all the angles, and stop this silly tv on the side of the pitch nonsense

I switched from watching the swedish broadcast to BBC because I got sick of our commentators. But fuck me, your guys are even worse!

If Putin can find space in a gulag for Lawro for this World Cup he will be doing the world a favour.

And give him P Nev for company.

They showed a great close up side angle which clearly showed him catching Greizman’s trailing ankle/foot?

That didn't show the touch of the ball very well though because it was front on to the incident, whilst the one behind the goal did show the touch most clearly.

Now if the decision had still been penalty, then ok, but I don't see why you wouldn't use all camera angles? I'm thinking ahead to future incidents and if VAR is (seemingly) here to stay then how to improve it.

You guys would be livid if that was Kane though on goal and it wasn't given as a PK. Yes he slightly touched the ball. And then he tripped Griezmann's heels when he still would have had an obvious goal scoring opportunity.

Be even more livid if Rose made a last ditch tackle - got the ball and Salah dived over his trailing leg to win a dodgy pen

First time I've ever seen Fekir play I think. What's he all about?

So you agree they didn't get the decision right?

Eh? They got the decision spot on. It was a pen. I just would rather someone in the VAR just made the decision and the ref didn’t have to go over to the screen to be shown it.

Really intriguing group, this. I think if this ends in a draw any team could get through.

Deschamps is such a fucking plum. If you’re putting Fekir on, why take Griezmann off and put Giroud on? Griezmann is far more likely to feed of Fekir than Giroud who wants more traditional crosses
