Logically, the reality is that we should just about get into a CL spot this season, and we also should win the qualifier to get into the CL groups. Coming second would give us the same end result, except in the coming second scenario, the scum also get at league title. Strictly speaking, we are better off playing it out.
The only counter point really is that by coming second, we could attract even more high quality players, more fans, greater stature, ability to hold on to good players etc in the long run. But seeing as our players would only really make an upward step to Madrid or Barca anyway (I really don't think Chelsea, City or Man U have the pulling power over a club like Spurs anymore, even if they are all better sides), they might still do that even if we were title winners.
Overall, I wouldn't take the league as it is... but I can see why people might disagree with me.

No because they would have beaten us again, and for the ultimate prize. It isnt about being above them at all costs, I wouldn't care if we came 3rd and they came 2nd, but with them winning the league. 2nd means absolutely nothing.

Arsenal winning the league would be awful, I think I'd rather finish 5th as long as they don't win the league.
