if it was a case of them finishing above us in 1st by 3/4 points and us 2nd i'd say yes. but losing the TITLE to them on goals scored. No way in the world could i handle that. Not to mention the abuse the what if this goal had gone in, that decision etc would torture me forever!

But last time they won the title, relatively recently, we finished mid table, the sick man of London. Surely you would prefer to run it as close as that? We'd still have automatic CL and loads of money. I could more than stomach it.

What I meant is that I wouldn't give up a CL spot just to stop them from winning the league, forfeiting it to hinder them.

But I wouldn't GIVE them the league title for a spot in the CL.

If Arsenal beat us to the league on goals scored I wouldn't really care. In fact I would say some bullshit line like "we sold the best player in the league, you bought the best player in the league, and you can still only win on a technicality".

Fair enough. The question was that would you take that at the end of the season, not with several games to go though (basically do you hate Arse enough to forgo us getting 2nd if it meant them winning the leauge). I like your mind set though mate

Painful no doubt. But, I'd never put any other team ahead of Spurs' success. We go for the highest position we can - breaking it down, higher means more successful, a better Spurs' in the future. Success drives us to more success; 1st is better than 2nd is better than 3rd is better than 4th...and anyone, I don't mean you 'cause you haven't said that, that would give us 5th to prevent another team from getting 1st, needs to seriously reassess. If I know that the highest position we can get is 2nd, and I'm hypothetically offered that, but told Arse gets 1st...well, I'd swallow real hard and make a special effort not to care, purely because Spurs is always, always, always first! 2nd is the rivalry.

Wenger's lasagne, Chavs cheating us out of a CL place, missing out to Arse on CL this season...just a few relatively recent soul crushing events in the Spurs' psyche. Slightly off topic but there is a big chance the top 4 could come down to something like goal difference or goals scored this year, seeing as there are 6 top teams in contention, and we need to improve a lot on last year in that respect..
