Only YouTube clip I've seen of him but if we were to miss out on konoplyanka and end up with this guy I wouldn't be too upset. Anyone know how old he is?

He is 24. He has no end product though, so not what we need in my opinion.

French Ligue 1 - P39, S6, A4
Spanish La Liga- P60, S3, A5.

Doesn't seem similar to Townsend to me. He has a lot quicker feet, more trickery and a more delicate touch. Looks like he has a bit of guile about him.

Townsend is obviously probably quicker, more direct in style and has a stronger shot ( not that it has done us much good so far re strong shot )

Perhaps Brahimi would offer us more movement and creativity working in tandem with Eriksen and Lamela ? He draws defenders in, can beat a man or two in a tight spaces and tries cute passes.

Can't comment further until I see more

To be honest what does he offer that Townsend doesn't? We could do better.

If he can pass, cross and or shoot then he's an improvement on Townsend.

In saying that, his youtube clips leave a lot to be desired.

Not sure thats much of a highlight, just not impressed by the clip at all. Looks way too clumsy, esp for 12 mil.

Add another player to be linked;

Yacine Brahimi - 24 year old Algerian midfielder plays for Granada FC, is now linked to move to us;

I have no idea about him- Apparently he has more dribbles than Ronaldo & Messi and has been voted the best dribbler by La Liga fans last season; He started as a CM but now playing more in LW position for Granada.

Statistically, whoscored rates him above average with 7.2 rating & 82% successful pass completion; But scored only 3 goals & 3 assist the whole season in a struggling Granada side; He is in Algerian WC squad;

After taking official permanently transfer to Atletico of Siqueira, the Granada expected that it will not be the only player to leave during the summer. And the following may be Yacine Brahimi. The French-Algerian midfielder has attracted much attention in several teams in the Premier. In all, Tottenham and Everton are best positioned for now.

His quality has not gone unnoticed by the English scouts. In his second season at Atletico, Brahimi has managed to revalue their brilliant performances, which drew the attention of some groups that are willing to pay a transfer to take over its services. The Granada acquired the property a year ago, after running for just under 4 million purchase option, which was established in the previous course assignment by the Stade Rennes.

Clause 15 million
was committed until June 2017 and the termination clause was set at 15 million. The player will play the World Cup with Algeria, where selection is considered key in developing the attack game. If he can excel in this appointment, your cache will rise even more. Even the figure of the transfer could be close to that set out in clause, which would make another major operation for Granada.

Interesting. This by any chance the fella that set up Bentaleb's goal this past week? That was some very nice footwork to get last Vlad and set up the cross, even if it was to right to Pantilimon.

Edit: Did my own research, that was Djabou, a name I saw frequently being discussed in a match thread. It seems the Algerians like him quite a bit.

Interesting now that Brahimi is primarily a left-sided wide attacking midfielder.

Bentaleb will be training with him, so maybe he's fed back his views to the club. Also, we may well have scouts watching Bentaleb play for Algeria.

No, that's not him.

Oh, hrmm...Kay.....
Yes, so never mind then. (I see you already got your own answer ;)
Anyhow, Brahimi is a really good little player who can dribble the heck out of the ball (he's even better in "dribbles by" category than Turan and Messi, and such)
Leaves me wondering however, why he hasn't been more productive (considering he's played 35 matches and 2779 minutes in La Liga this past season).
I'd personally rather someone like Calhanoglu (who's also right-footed and plays on the left, as well as CAM).
The kid is a real fine footballer, he is only 20 and already making a name for himself in the Bundesliga.
But Brahimi should be available for a relatively cheap fee next year (since they just signed him from Rennes last summer, and he's on contract until 2017).
I don't know, it's food for thought, at least.

I don't know if it's really fair to compare him and Vadillo.
While they both play inverted LW, Brahimi seems to be right at home behind the striker, taking opponents on with his silky smooth dribbling ability and creating chances for his teammates in the final third.
Whereas Vadillo is a more of a natural on the left flank.
Then there is also a small matter of age difference (4 years).
So we're yet to see how 19-yr old Vadillo may develop in the future. He possesses undeniable talent, but he's still quite raw at this stage of his development.

Not what we need at all. A poor mans Andros Townsend.

Both Lennon & Townsend created more chances and made more Key Passes and better pass completion rate (per 90 mins) than Brahimi.

Whilst Brahimi did have more successful dribbles than Andros (5.31 per 90 mins V 4.91), Andros had a better dribble success % (62.96% v 52.90%).

When ever I have seen him he always strikes me as a head down sort of player. Yes he good at running at defenders but his final ball is somewhat lacking.

Tottenham are keeping tabs on Algeria midfielder Yacine Brahimi following his impressive World Cup.

Everton and Roma have also been alerted about the 24-year-old who currently plays for French club Rennes. But‎ Brahimi has indicated he could be ready to quit Rennes to further his career.

The White Hart Lane club already have one of his Algerian World Cup compatriots in their squad in 19-year-old midfielder Nabil Bentaleb.

Brahimi primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can switch to either wing if required.

His versatility was recognised in Brazil this summer, where he scored once and got an assist to help his country into the tournament's knockout stages for the first time in their history.

Was really impressed by Brahimi at the WC. Fantastic dribbling ability, intelligent first touch and very adept at protecting the ball with numbers around him. Showed good vision at times too, with a number of clever passes forward. Oh and he plays for Granada, not Rennes, great research John.

He looked good on the ball at the WC but he seems to over do it instead of laying the ball off or creating a goal scoring opportunity. Not for me, sure we can do better than him.

Feghouli was far superior than Brahimi but we've no chance of signing him from Valencia.
