Premier League greats Jermain Defoe and Yaya Toure are to join Tottenham as academy coaches. Defoe, who scored 143 goals in 363 appearances in two spells at Spurs, is expected to take up his first coaching job in the club’s academy from next month, while Toure has been handed a full-time position after initially joining the club on a part-time basis in December.

Toure would be the epitome of what Conte seems to want from our midfield. Bentancur, Bissouma, Skipp, Hojbjerg, Sarr are all of a similar ilk, so who better to have a word in their ear from time to time.

Having watched part of the 2006/7 season review on Spursplay , don't think Defoe will be teaching the academy on how to head a ball , he missed a couple of sitters which made Darren Bent look good :)

A good coach doesn't need to be able to do it himself, they need to be able to get others to do it.

imagine how great a player would feel if yaya singled them out for some special praise.
OK they might not know who he was, but their parents would, wherever in the world they were from.

I hope they all bring cake when it‘s birthday time though, or they’ll be many extra laps…

Ive spoken a few times on how big a fan I am on Yaya Toure and when I saw the Sarr compilation the first time, there was clearly so much you could compare to Yaya in terms of their height and their ability to effortlessly cover ground with those long legs but also the fact there was a speed to their ability to move the ball around in close quarters, some signs of similar passing range but Yaya's passing ability was criminally underrated and Sarr is still quite raw, I think you can see the possibility in terms of the range of passing whilst also showing early signs of the more clever aspects of passing. By far though the most exciting aspect was just the similarities in the way they contort their bodies and are able to get such curl on a shot despite the distances they're shooting from.

I'm a bit of a lover of the renaissance art history and the reason so many artists of that time produced such wonderous work was that there was a clearly defined apprenticeships structure and I just can't help but be excited by the possibility of Sarr getting tutelage from Yaya Toure. I hope it goes without saying that of course Sarr has Conte there who was a great midfielder in his own right and all of our midfielders could learn from both Conte and Yaya whilst also acknowledging Yaya will predominately be helping the youth teams but I really hope we take advantage of this rare opportunity. It's all well and good Sarr learning from Conte but there's almost nobody on earth who could better teach Sarr to make the most of his physical gifts like Yaya and then mastering techniques in relation to your unique physical stature. Very excited as you can tell :D

Remind me again is Yaya Toure the one who used to look like he'd just eaten someone & their birthday cake before each match or the other one?
