Having a long running discussion with my brother about this. Have had a look around online and can't seem to find an answer:

We know that getting 5 yellows before 19 league matches results in a one match ban. What happens to that count of yellows if two are received in one match (obvs turned into a red)?. Tanganga is a good example of this. He was booked against Wolves and so had one yellow in his season total. Two matches later he picks up two against Palace in the same match and therefore gets a one match ban for the resulting red.

So what happens to his tally now? Is he on three yellow cards, and two more will result in another one match ban? Or have those two yellows been removed as they resulted in a red and he's back to one? Or does the first yellow in the Palace match count, but the second not and he's now on two overall?

My feeling is that he remains on three yellows for the season, but with no real confidence.

Yeah, officialy he's now on 1 yellow and one red. Wouldn't make sense to count the 2 yellow cards that resulted in a red (for which he was already punished).
