Which players from U21 (maybe even U19) could join first team and compete for starting eleven next year?

  • Fryers could be long-term replacement for BAE so I would join him to first squad next year
  • Pritchard could become "new Bale" so definitely YES.. sub for Dembele
  • Obika can't do worse than Ade and Defoe this season so WHY NOT
  • Townsend..?

What do you think?

none of those will compeat for a starting place next season, or i hope not. They are good youngsters and can be used as pasr of the squad, but i would not replace any of the first team with them yet.

Hope we get in a new striker... or two (big ask just for one i know...)

you have Adam Smith as well, but along with Kane, Pritchard and Obika i would hope for a high Champions ship team/Premiership loan next season.

Fryers (if he is good enough, never seen him), Townsend, Carroll and Caulker to all be part of the squad

Townsend - will be competing for a first team place and definitely have a squad place

Fryers - wont be likely to have a squad place as we can get away with having one LB imo, even more so when you consider we are linked with Alderweld, likely championship or even prem(doubt it tbh) loan

Rose - IMO will be our first choice LB, I think benny will leave as he has the magical 2 years left on his contract

If Naughton stays, Smith will be loaned out in the prem or if Naughton leaves, Smith will be our back up RB tbh

Kane maybe our 3rd choice striker next season but that may not be a great idea tbh

Livermore - will either stay or Luongo will be promoted to his place tbh

Luongo - likely loaned to high championship or lower prem(unlikely tbh) depends on livermore

Carroll - I think may stay next season but depends if we can get a prem loan

Mason or Falque or even Pritchard - One will stay imo but with the other two being loaned out to prem clubs/la liga clubs. Though Mason may leave and Falque may be sold to a la liga club

Obika - will either be sold or loaned to championship club

Bale Mk2 - stay for first half of the season and then loaned to championship

Shaq - Same as Bale Mk2

Bentaleb - Same McEvoy tbh

Cebellos - Loaned out to championship or La liga div 1/2

Parrett - tomorrow will be telling on his future here tbh

Though could change depending on the Champions League Youth tournament

it seems strange that they would need/want 3 new midfielders.

anyone know more about them think they would get game time?

Their fans say they need a forward. Can't see us loaning them Coulthirst though, seeing as he is our only one. Strange that the paper would know it's a midfielder but not know his name.

Virtually all those players wouldn't take up a squad place even if good enough as they are u21 so don't count towards the limit. Like you say with the champions league youth tournament, u21 elite league etc i think we will keep most of those for the first part of the season and then start loaning them out for the 2nd half like we did this season. There seems to be a bit of an effort to develop a spurs "system" throughout the age groups so keeping them within the club and then send out for the last few months on loan is a good idea IMHO.

Discussed on the youth thread at lunch time :

  • Swindion have had a transfer embargo for months
  • New owner, hopes he has cut a deal ro pay off football crditors by tomorrow
  • New manager keen on youth
  • A few injuries in a relatively smal squad (due to transfer embargo)
Big question, no real answer is whether they get playing time. Swindon close to top of League 1 so Parrett has plenty of experience at that level. Ceballos no experience, Luongo (if him) looked good in a few games for Championship Ipswich.

I would hope Spurs do much bettter than previously at ensuring tthe loanees will only go there if they play - and not sure I would send 3 midfielders as I doubt if all 3 would play.

Lets see what OS says timorrow - if Swindon get their transfer ban lifted of course !

Luongo, Rose, Townsend & Smith into Spurs squad. Carroll and Livermore retain place in squad. Big risk but Parker, Hudd, Naughton and Dempsey to make way

PL loan for Kane

Champs loans for Parrett, Pritchard & Obika.

O/seas loan for Coulthurst & Ceballos

Bye, bye Dawkins and Falque at a guess.

agree with only1waddle..

i can see only Rose & Townsend push for 1st team football next season

even Carroll & Livermore could find themselves on loan, as well as Smith.

Sell Huddlestone and replace with either a new CM/Luongo

Sell Benny and have Rose with Naughton as back up and Smith as back up to Walker.

Townsend could push Lennon, imo.

I hope we don't sell Falque...Maybe a loan to a Prem team (Newly promoted?)

Smith needs another loan, a move up the ladder, people keeping an eye on him will know whether that means EPL or even abroad as we seem to be loaning a few further afield, a good thing IMO for developing them as people too, although as some have stated Masons move looks pretty puzzling..
We might find AVB takes a gamble and develops Carroll in house and gives him more game time, not sure with Livermore, felt both needed Quality loan moves this season but we have been hampered by injury, an operation to Parker and the whole Modric saga..
It's a shame Kane's Norwich move was a disaster with that injury, should of been a real test for him and the kind of level we need to give our youngsters the opportunity to play at..
I did think awhile ago about Spurs looking abroad for a club that can't afford players, A Swansea, Fulham or Norwich..
Send 1/2 of our best youngsters every season.. just a thought, not sure if it would work well in practice.

I really do worry about us being a top 4 club and playing a right sided player at left back, does not sit well with me..

Rose and BA-E should compete for the first team spot next season; if we get Champion's League there should be enough big games to justify some rotation, and Rose, as a utility player who can cover LW and CM, should get plenty of sub appearances when he is not starting. Besides, there is always the possibility that one of them might spend half the season injured...

I agree but I don't know who else we could get that would be happy being back up and pretty cheap.

Agree, getting 1 left back is tricky enough, there must be a good option out there ala the Gallas signing, we could sign for a year or 2 and he would be happy on the bench whilst Fryers is loaned out.. BAE's fee would be better spent on a striker..
