Just a bit of fun, but when everybody is back and availble we'll have the best midfield depth, in terms of quality throughout , in the league imo.

So who'd you pick....

Mine would be:

Bentancur
Sarr
Maddison

Bissouma obviously can play 6 or 8, GLC 8 or 10 , and Kulusevski covers 10 as well.

For the love of Spurs

For perhaps his bad form of late I tend to think Bissouma is our best player when on form in front of our Centre Backs so harsh as it is for Sarr I would tend to see, Bissouma, Bentancur and Maddison as our most balanced midfield.

If Sarr does play ahead of Bissouma then clearly Bentancur would be switched like yesterday to cover in front of the defence.

The difference between all of them though is perhaps marginal. We only drop significantly when either PEH or Skipp come on.

Sarr’s engine is very hard to ignore. Maddison has the creativity. Bentancur is Mr Consistency and can stitch everything together. But the rest are no mugs. And yes, I do include Skipp and PEH who are criminally underrated.

We need to get to a point where we’re not looking at a starting 11 but a squad where you can play different players without the quality dropping off. I’m looking forward to having everyone fit

Yes of course, its all about the squad not the individual eleven on any given match day.

Thats why I said, just a bit of fun etc

But that three I picked is the most balanced imo.

Have to agree Bissouma at start of season was untouchable but since Luton been a big drop-off. Unfortunately I would fear his attitude if he not first pick when all fit.

Most balanced midfield will always include Sarr - as he is the only CM we have that can cover ground like he can - and what you need in a balanced midfield.

Other CMs are more technical, or creative, or defensive - but none have Sarr's ability to contribute in all three phases of play - defending, transitioning and attacking.

To get the right balance - you need the guy who is going to run for 90 minutes, cover ground, carry the ball, track back, tackle, make interceptions, etc.

My preference would be the same as @Mr Pink : Bentancur, Sarr, Maddison

With a second preference for Bissouma, Sarr, Maddison

If Gallagher comes in - I think he is the natural competition for Sarr.

Bentancur, Sarr and Maddison.

Bissouma as the the bentancur back up. Gio back up for Maddison. And hopefully Gallagher the back up for Sarr. Looks like PEH won't be around much longer and Skipp I don't rate.

I really think we're at the point where (all being fit) we just tailor the midfield to suit the match. So against a low block, in a high posession match (Sheff Utd: Palace)

6: Bissouma
8: Bentancur
10: Maddison

Against an open attacking side (Brighton/Villa)

6: Bentancur
8: GLC
10: Maddison

Against a top 4 side (Liverpool, City)

6: Bentancur
8: Sarr
10: Maddison

But honestly, with that talent we can just decide how we want to play in almost any game, probably bar City. However, that's the best case scenario, Injuries and suspensions are inevitable. It's a great position to be in.

Assuming all of them are fit and playing at their best (which hardly happens at the same time), it definitely has to be

6: Bissouma
8: Bentacur
10: Maddison

Sarr has played very very well indeed and I love how he has played but a fully fit and on form Bentacur @ #8 - did you guys forget how he contributed to our press against city and won, how he combined with Deki that led to Deki’s most productive period, and also chipped in with a few crucial goals here n there?
