Agent reveals Tottenham interest in Inter Milan star
By talkSPORT | Thursday, February 13, 2014

Tottenham face a battle to sign Inter Milan defender Yuto Nagatomo after his agent revealed he is set to open talks with the club over a new deal at the end of the season.

The north London club have been strongly linked with a move for the experienced player and have been tipped to make their move during the summer.

Tottenham head coach Tim Sherwood is already planning his targets for next season and wants to ensure his side are challenging for silverware.

But he faces a big fight to clinch the Japan international's signature as he seems happy to stay at the San Siro and could even pledge his long-term future to the Italian giants.

Nagatomo's agent Roberto Tukada, speaking on Calciomercato, said: "Tottenham have been following him for a while but there is nothing more than that.

"He still has more than two-years left on his contract with Inter and we want to renew. I think we will talk during the summer. The player is happy at Inter and there is no reason to think he will change teams."

I like what I have seen from him in Inter and Japan. Better going forward than Rose and usually plays on the left wing in Inter's 3-5-2. Saw him in the derby against Milan in December and thought he did really well. Since he can play both LB and LW I would like to us to get him as he's an upgrade on our current options. Even shorter than Rose though!

He's a real workhorse, like most Japanese players, and is very good going forward. He's right footed but has a good enough left foot to play on that side comfortably. He'll be up and down the wings all day and would be perfect if we ever decided to play a 3-5-2 formation.

Only reservation is that he's not the best defensively, but I don't think he's any worse than Danny Rose is. He's pretty lightweight too, but can make up for it by being a tenacious fucker.

Would personally prefer a left footed defender playing at left back. Looks the business though.
