Maybe it would be a good idea to have a table of some kind, where the ITK's will score points for providing the best and precise info. That will make the highest scorer of points gained as the most reliable ITK and so forth.

This will lessen a lot of the useless debate on here, as to whether the info., provided is built on solid ground or otherwise on soft mud.

What do you think Lads & Ladies ?

Comment........

Its unfair.

ITKs pass on what they know or told. Things can change after the ITK shares the information. Its not the ITKs fault.

I had this problem as you'll probably remember, goalposts can move very quickly in negotiations, some of these deals can go on for months but be with more than one club.

The Goat has already said it was a new source and to take it with a pinch of salt. If he'd had said it was from his top source, I would have had an erection so rampant i'd have probably passed out through blood loss, but becuase he also covers up for people wishing to remain anonymous, I guess the gripes go with the gig.

We do try to vet these things but there's only so much you can do. In this case, our informant (or source) had previously only been in touch about 6 months ago and we'd sat on that info waiting to see how it panned out. This 'signing today' info was much more immediate so the decision was taken to air it and now we at least know where we stand regarding the previous stuff, which will now probably not see the light of day.

Finally, IMO comparing The Goat to other ITK's is a bit futile as the other ITK's are single people with only their pricks to keep so to speak, whereas our Goat also has to act as Deep Throat for those not wishing to post so I guess a spot of unreliability goes with the territory and The Goat does try to make clear how good the source is. It would be nice if people would remember that.

Finally, finally, at the very least, what's been accomplished is that the silly season has been kicked well and truly into life as have the ITK and Transfer Forums.

Firstly, people need to understand the concept of ITK, and why things are posted here.

It's not a 'measure cocks comp' between who gets what right and who gets what wrong, it's purely about news that is going on behind the scenes, not reported in the main stream media, and the information of which is being discussed in real time.

Whether that comes a reality is entirely a different thing, it's an information to give us all a feeling of connection to the on-goings of our club, nothing more, nothing less.

The information reported, is usually in good faith and should always be taken with a pinch of salt, once that is grasped, it's easy and fun :-D

i agree. :hump:

No red sponsor. I imagine that some people would be forced to get a real hobby instead of lamenting on the moneys that helped get us to the CL.

Sorry if posting came out a bit harsh... I love ITK and the silly season - even when nothing happens!

Maybe it was all a hoax by the site to weed out the ITK bashers early and ban them before it gets real silly!! :-D

I'd just like to add to the mods and RR's to watch out for those coming from 606 and other sites on the wind up.

It happened last year, if I remember correctly, and they are taking the piss out of SC ITK at the moment.

I assume the Goat still has his ways of checking legitamacy of the information chain though. I mean if I PM'd him and said we are in progressive discussions with Everton about Saha...he would then ask my source and if I said Daniel Levy, I assume he would have some system of validation whereby he would ask questions to try and understand if I could be privvy to that info or indeed know Mr Levy rather than just going oh Ok cheers and then sticking it on the forum.
If my above supposition is correct then it is either a very clued up prankster or as others have suggested the information at time of publishing was legitimate butthings have subsequently changed.

One more question for Rob/Mods does the Goat ever go back to the source and try and find out why the expected didn't occur?

Yep. More than once.

On this occasion, what the source didn't say until after the Goat had posted was that 'all I know is that the player was with Tottenham today'. Now if we'd known that the post would have been completely different.

I reckon what we got was some correct information (The player being with or meeting with Spurs) and some incorrect info or a guess from a link in the sources chain (big signing tomorrow)

I feel bad about it but it's done now.
