Harsh but true.

I was a massive believer in Harry before he started. I had been saying for years that when you look at the list of players that have come into the game in England through him, it's incredible. I have always said Harry is one of the best judges of ability in the game. The way he got Pompey playing and to what he did with a club that small in the cup was a fantastic achievement.
If he has blown it for himself at Spurs over this England/contract thing, then its a big shame. His relationship with the media is his best weapon and greatest enemy.

I made a pessimistic prediction of Moyes based on his track record. If he comes, he'll be a Spurs manager and I'll believe in him to do better. Right now he isn't Spurs manager and there is no proof that he would be a good Spurs manager.

Based on which track record?
The track record that could them to a CL place?
Or the one subsequent to them, where has had no money to spend for half a dozen years, and has had the squad he built asset-stripped at the same time. Bearing in mind that this includes frequently losing a major player, late in pre-season with no replacement, which has to affect your plans, and may just explain, or partially explain, their slow starts?

I think Ferguson keeps saying Moyes will replace him to keep his own position secure. If he says it will be Mourinho then the fans might start pushing for the transfer sooner rather than later.

Dan, sometimes you talk sense (I 'liked' all of your posts early, about the business side of things), but when it comes to other things you don't have talk some nonsense :ROFLMAO:

I would be shocked if Utd went for Moyes to replace Sir Alex. It will be someone like Mourinho or Guardiola I think.

Moyes has done a decent job with Everton on a limited budget but they play horrible football. Before anyone says that it's because they have limited money that he has them playing that way, it simply doesn't make a difference. Just look at Swansea as an example of spening little money but still playing attractive football. Moyes has a negative mindset and I would be hugely underwhelmed if he were to replace Harry. Bearing in mind of course that Harry has us playing some of the best football we've played in my lifetime.

I don't want another Graham/Santini era thanks.

I can't see Moyes being Man U boss after fergie...Guardiola,Murinho etc will be more likely, and as for Moyes being our boss, i personally worry about that, handling players to punch above their weight is one thing, and manageing top top players who are expected to challenge at the very top is another.
I do admire the job Moyes has done, but if you look at the relationship he has with Bill Kenright and the way he has little pressure at Everton that works for him and his style, i think he could be out of his depth at a bigger club where he would be expected to do well, obviously i could be wrong, but my hunch is he is best suited where he is.

I wish to God we were dour enough to score four goals at Old Trafford !!
I think if this does happen it is not about this year or next year, it is not about a "top" coach for a year or two, they only come with a substantial transfer budget anyway, it is about a new beginning, it is about the start of our future, make no mistake Dvid Moyes has proved his preference to create something and keep building it over the long term.
If he really is available then it may even be preferential to bring him anyway.

I wish we could score 'a' goal at Old Trafford. I'm sure we have recently by the way so everyone don't bother checking the stats!

Appointing Moyes would be a very similar appointment as Redknapp. An experienced Prem manager who has done pretty well at lower level clubs with less resources.

Either way it is a bit of a gamble.

I agree with the first part but don't see it as a gamble. Essentially, Moyes has a simlar track record to Redknapp and I was certainly underwhelmed when Redknapp came in. Given talented players and some resources though he's done well (to a point).
I was against Moyes but after considering it the fact that he's a more solid manager it would only benefit us.

As it stands, we're top of our tier. There's little chance that Moyes would be less effective than Redknapp although if he puts out a 2nd team for a cup match vs Arsenal he might just get a fair bit of stick.

I think Moyes has been under massive pressure at Everton.
They are one of the traditional Big Five, just like we are.
I think Kenwright has put him in a position of trying to maintain their position, while he tries to save the club financially. Relegation for Everton would be a major disaster.
He has also had the pressure of building a half-decent team and attaining CL football, and then watching it systematically asset-stripped, without any funds to buy, to compensate. I am sure I would feel pressurised in that position.

Huge change in culture from Redknapp to Moyes for the players. Those who don't like to do too much tactical shape work in training and prefer just being told to 'run abaaaht and express yourselves', and don't welcome strict discipline might want to pack their bags.
I agree! BUT is Moyes much better? I don't think he's much more clued up than Harry. Probably more strict with his methods and discipline but tactically similar.

I'm not saying i would like Benitez or Van Gaal. But they are the type of managers who would focus a lot more on tactics and team shape etc etc.

Would Moyes really take us to the next level? I would prefer a manager with CL experience or a manager who has a proven history. (Not Capello) (n)

Moyes would be a long term signing, would think we would go backwards a bit before forwards

In their last 7 games, Everton scored 4 goals on three separate occasions, including at Old Trafford and only failed to score once in their last 11 games.

We managed to score 4 or more 3 times for the whole season!

I appreciate this isn't wholly conclusive evidence but it certainly creates food for thought on those who continue this bullshit notion that Everton and Moyes play utterly dour football!

With the players in our team, we will always play good football and attacking football, unless the defence are under orders to bypass the midfield and lump it straight up. Thats unlikely to happen. Would Moyes drop Bale, VDV or Lennon ? I think not, he'd jizz to have those attacking weapons. The worst case scenario would be him filling the middle with Sando AND Parker, and playing one up front with VDV behind. No different to what it already is really, minus Modric and plus some other new players. With that formation, with Bale and Lennon wide, at worst we would counter attack, and that in itself can be devastatingly beautiful to watch. I'm sure nobody called the Madrid team in Mourinho's first year as 'boring'

I'd love our team to work as hard as Everton do, and to have their team spirit and ethos. Our squad harmony is already pretty damn good, in my opinion, Moyes could retain all the good things, and add in an iron will that would make us even better.

Awaits negging.....

Did anyone pick up on the Redknapp comments on the BBC about his contract only having a year left and the uncertainty that this would breed in the players and affect their performance if this was not resolved during the start of the season.

What about the affect on their performance of their manager saying he would take the England if offered, isn't that the same thing but worse really?

Pretty sure Levy would have picked up on this, especially the point that this did not affect us making third, but then again Harry cannot read or write can so pretty sure he could not put this together on his own.....

Sorry if this point has been added before

Not many managers come with a better cv than Rafa, depends whether you chose a manger on merit or personal dislike.
Redknapp certainly wasn't chosen based on his past accomplishments.
He was, supposedly, a safe pair of hands after the Ramos fiasco.
