I don't understand your reasoning. Before we spent 17milliion pounds on a player we had, erm...never spent 17 million pounds on a single player.

So there is nothing to say we won't break that and spend 20million.

What makes you think we are going to spend 20 million on a player when we have never done so before? What? We will eventually do so, I imagine. But what makes you think this is the year, with no manager and no CL and no big stadium that we will now go crazy?

Oscar seems to be more of a number 10 . We could go with a 4-3-3 I suppose.

Sandro
Gylfi--------Oscar
VDV--------------------Bale
Adebayor?
Ossie would be so proud of that.
one of oscar or Gylfi out and moutinho in and what a team that would be :)

players generally don't become as good when they join spurs. I hope it changes though.

Nelsen and Saha in the last window. Adebayor and Parker in the previous. Player sales of Kranjcar, Corluka. Redknapp's dismissal despite a decent season. All of these factors IMO point to there being money to spend for a new boss with a new philosophy. 20m on a kid from brazil though? I don't see it.

Remember Hoddle talking up the kid from Santos? Diego went on to do very very well. I can't recall if we were ever close though.

This is the wrong thread so I won't comment any further other to say.

- We had a 22m accepted for Juan Mata but couldn't agree personal terms FACT

- We had a 20m bid rejected for Kenwyn Jones during Harrys first transfer window FACT

There are other examples that also prove we have the money for the transfer fee but have been unable to get the deal done.

This is what makes me think we would spend 20m+ on a player.

I don't actually believe we have signed Oscar though...

I personally think that 25m euros for a player i hadnt heard about till last week is way too much. He could be a star but Brazilian starlets are way overpriced (Ganso, Oscar, Neymar, Moura). Id much rather spend that money on a top class striker or a replacement for Luka proven in Europe (Moutinho, etc).
