Good to get a body in but he is literally a body. He was a laughing stock at Chelsea and if we want to improve Richys finishing by signing Werner someone needs sacking.

This is literally the definition of the cheap option. I get that you can't work miracles in Jan but this is a signing for a signings sake.

Has to be coming as a striker option. Would be one of the worst profile fits I’ve ever seen if we want him as a winger.

Will mean Son plays LW until the summer.
The ITK suggests that we were looking for an attacker who can play across the front three. We were also told we would be exploring the loan market which most assumed we wanted Jota. Werner ticks both of these boxes in theory. I certainly don’t see us bringing anyone else in this window.

You’re right tho that he’s a forward primarily. He isn’t as strong out wide even tho he played LW plenty throughout his career. As a CF he is really not clinical, he needs 4 or 5 chances to score and at 27 I don’t see that changing. As a winger he’s not nuanced enough in his play. Having watched a good chunk of him throughout his career im just not sure what we are expecting him to bring to team.

"Postecoglu also approved the deal" is all you need to care.

It’s an interesting one. I wasn’t expecting any big moves for forwards in January, so I would be happy with Werner as an option. And if it doesn’t work out, we send him back.

I would be interested to know whether this is a signing Ange was interested in or whether it’s one of those where the player has become available and Levy has offered him to Ange.
Dunno about levy. He was linked with villa too so maybe from our new recruitment team

I don’t think time is or will ever be prolific but, he has pace to burn and in our attack and style of play that is missing through the middle at the moment so he could be a good fit. Loan until June seems win win as he isn’t getting into the Leipzig team at the moment

Really happy with this, I was knobbed off Chelsea got him after his breakout season. He didn't have the best time at Chelsea *but still had decent numbers* but I dont think they were set up to take advantage of what he had to offer. Under Ange I think he will do really well.

People just seem to be a little touchy regarding Richy recently. Been on a run of goals, but has been very fortunate during the run. His finishing is weak, the majority of goals have been put on a plate for him.

Werner is levels above in regards to finishing, and speed.
There you go, you understand what to expect from Richarlison. Maybe the onus should be on his providers to stop fannying about with extra touches or passes around the penalty area and get the ball to him in the great positions he gets into.

I wonder if there's also some thinking here that would allow us to sell Richy late in the window quickly if we got a bid for him, given Son's imminent return by then also.

I liked Werner before Chelsea signed him. If he still has that pace then I think I see a place for him.

Yeaaaa...im not sure on this one. I wanted him years ago but he hasnt been anywhere near that level since his move to Chelsea. Im going to put this in the 'hope he proves me wrong' column.

He has pace and is dangerous when running in to the ball. That gives us something we miss without Son. Let’s see what he can do!

I wouldn't get too hung up on his time at Chelsea. Bar Drogba, the Spanish phycho and Crespo at a push, hardly any strikers do well at Chelsea. Even their own fans say their no9 position is a graveyard for strikers.

IMO, Werner would be great for us. Systems make players. Bissouma, Porro under Conte as an example.

Guys just be calm nothing to lose hope about yet with Dragusin and club still confident the player is waiting for us.
I get that and deals are never certain even until the end but right now we are confident of bringing him and he wants to come here over Napoli or any other suitor right now . They’re not far away on the fee just gotta wait and see .

Personally I love it. It’s extremely difficult and expensive to sign starting quality strikers in Jan. But getting in an experienced player who has flaws but has proven in the past he can perform to an elite level in a similar vertical system to ours is a no brainer.

Keeps the squad spot free and powder dry for summer if it doesn’t work out. But has a chance to be the missing piece we need too. All you can ask for in Jan.

Plus I’ve always secretly rated him, even at Chelsea. His movement and pace are elite.

Not sure how anyone is disagreeing with this post
