Maybe we'll be on fire right from the word go and win the first 8 on the trot.

I'll be honest, I think the club has already accepted that Rafa is off. Personally I think that The Sig was his replacement too. He will be missed but I trust the club, if we wanted to keep hold of him we would, with ease.

AVB (and to be fair, Levy), want a young squad. Wouldnit surprise me in the slightest is VDV goes.

That said, I would be a little sad

id like to know whats vdv says in public.. i dont think i have read this summer that he wants to stay at spurs. all we hears is whispers but would not suprise me if he wanted to leave. his history shows he does not hang around at clubs but you never know. if he comes out and does a van persie then fine.. his position in team is replacable and plenty of top top number 10's out there that we could attract.

like i said earlier he is top class, gets his quote of goals and assists every season but is alot easier to replace than a modric or bale and he does have fitness issues. he def isnt a 90 minute player but that can be a good thing do.
I'm pretty sure he said something early on about loving the fans and the club but saying that anything was possible and he also loved his time in Germany.

Be very disappointed if he left, he's great to have in the team. Plus I want one of those mugs with Rafa on. Can't buy one if he's leaving!

Err, Read Van Der Kraan's comments about Holland and you would know it wasn't him causing problems and he also confirmed everyone dutch player has spoke out since WC but this was the first time VDV has ever spoken out

Then this cant be dropped bollocks, I mean he wasn't even picked for Europa so there goes that theory,

Ok I was wrong about the Dutch thing. He is outspoken though.

Regards the Europa League, Tom Carroll had it in his contract that he couldn't be dropped in that competition. I mean WTF? Hardly proves anything. I just thought it SEEMED he couldn't be dropped at times.

Truth in this?

Not doubting you, just an interesting fact when we have the likes of Parker, Modric and Walker in our team.

At HT/FT of games statistics will come up about distance covered etc....VDV is always top of the list.

Also, in regards to finishing full 90s all you have to do is look at the stats from last season. It'll take awhile but it was clear he was much more fit than he was in his first season.

Agreed, he is a very good player, but last season he seemed to tire in the last quarter of the game and he isn't quick. That said he has a sharp footballing brain and such players can make up for their lack of speed. If he is sold, we really do need a quality replacement, and a good price for him.

Like someone else commented though, I am also concerned about the lack of leadership with Gallas going and VDV (apparantly) going and King (apparantly) retiring. Let's hope there are some leaders amongst the new signings.

Step up Mr Vertonghen...

Love Rafa to bits and would be gutted to see him go...

JJ has already said that we are not actively looking to sell but if the right offer came in then we would consider it...

exactly vdv has been around the block before! never commits but says the right things without losing support of his fans.. this one will be like itk says - for clubs to put up or shut up .

To be clear I love Rafa and think he is a joy to watch and has put in some fantastic performances in our colours, however that being said I have often thought that at times we have tried to fit our system and style of play around VDV and that has at times hindered us.

I see AVB as more of a round pegs for round holes sort of manager and maybe he doesn't see a place for VDV in the style he wants to pay hence these rumours of him leaving.

Again It would be a shame to see him go though.

Seriously, how ridiculous does it look from the outside. Replacing Redknapp, Modric and VDV in one summer mitigation AVB, Sigurdsson and Oscar? I know I'm excited by it, but I can be deluded at times. Are we completely Mad?

But surely the system AVB is likely to use would suit rafa much more than the one we had before. He's dragged us through games before and like someone said above, let him run around for 60 mins then bring on sig. Hope it isn't true tho :(

I couldn`t see Rafa being overly enamoured by being dragged off after 60 mins tbh....

Considering we still have 2 months left of the transfer window I would calm down a bit. Haha!

Selling Rafa and replacing him with Sigurdsson and/or Remy would be a grave misjudgement.

Oscar. Superstar in the making.

If we get this guy for big money then he'll need to be playing in order to continue his progreesion, and then I don't see Rafa sticking around. Sad to see him leave though
