And funnily enough, Gardner was the fastest of all three.
Gardner was fast but couldn't read the game, there's only so many times pace can bail you out. Ledley had the full package.

And, apologies, but how has a Transfer Twitter thread descended into discussing who's the quickest defender we've had?

I never actually thought this.

It was all based around the fact that he ran a fast time as a junior sprinter, but once he got to his full size, i never saw that pace. (edit, well not the extent that he was obviously faster than King)

Just listening to The rohan rickets show

http://www.column10.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/Rohan-Ricketts-Show-1a.mp3

He was speaking to his old agent Eric Walters who in turn was talking about one of his clients who scored 19 goals in the championship last season. He was saying this player had a physical presence in the box that the club were after, he also said the club was being taken over by very wealthy Arabs.

Now I could be reading way too far into this (and im not saying we are being taken over) but Could that club be us? We will certainly need cover up front and Eric Walters was quite clear on the fact that his player would be playing less than he was before.

Have a listen let me know your thoughts

The only player in the championship who scored 19 goals was southamptons billy sharp.
I really can't see us setting our sights on Billy Sharp, even as back up. This is most likely to relate to Notts Forest.

Agree, that's definitely not us and almost certainly Forest. But if the player is Sharp, why would he give up the chance to play for Southampton in the PL?

Could someone that can:
  • work twitter
  • go 140 characters without calling Gray a cock
(afraid I'm out on both counts)

tweet AG a link to Tom's justgiving page? Some penitence pennies and free advertising wouldn't go amiss, I'd imagine.

Would that be the same fourth official who posted this gem 60 days ago...

"Just waiting for confirmation of Arsenal signing Jan Vertonghen from Ajax, fee agreed #AFC"

its all educated guesswork or maybe he was having a laugh.

Oh and this beauty "As said Podolski will be followed by Jan Vertonghen, followed by the big exit.. 1/3 #gameon #rollontransferwindow"

fourth official is very similar to agent_itk.

He sources transfer rumours from various message boards and passes them off as his own.

Let's not make this the tax implications thread but salaries to players can only be paid via PAYE. Image rights etc is a greyer area

Ok, ignoring the tax side of things. If players are on professional service agreements as opposed to employment contracts then they won't be paid via the PAYE system but they would have to declare their own income to the Taman and pay the relevant requirement.

True. Hazard left wing, Mata centre mid with a ball winner and Oscar advanced sounds pretty tasty though.
The problem that midfield would have is that it would get over ran, none of the players mentioned can tackle and the Chelsea defense is hardly a rock at the moment. Terry would have to find a new lease of life if he was to play behind that midfield

Yeah, you're right. The only way they could get around the problem is by playing Mata wide.
