#thfc AVB says Bale, Defoe and Lennon are all in contention to face Man City on Sunday. He's "pretty confident" Bale will be fit.
6m
#thfc AVB: “There has been a good recovery from Defoe, he’s trained with the team all week..."
5m
#thfc AVB: "Gazza [Bale] has been training also, just the last two days with the team but on his own since the beginning of the week..."
4m
#thfc AVB: "Lennon's been recovering progressively, theres still a chance. He hasnt trained with the team yet, there's 1 more session to go"

Seems like Lennon could be a more of a doubt than Bale, which is a bit weird considering that Lennons injury did'nt seem as bad as Bales.

Lennon has always seemed very cautious with injuries. He's probably not giving off the same 'I'm ready and I want to play' vibes as Bale.

Or Bale's was a knock that's healed whereas Lennon's was more precarious and in need of proper assessment and taking longer to heal. AVB stated how Bale has no ankle ligament to tear so he was always going to be ready within 10-12 days.

i like the mind games, keep City on their toes re planning how to contain us. Even if he doesnt start its a mental boost. Could underplay it and bales roaring to go. Could overplay it and keep em on their toes.

shame out Chelsea game though

I agree with you. The citeh players have been suspiciously quiet this week compared to our own. Hopefully its a sign that the in-fighting has begun in their locker room. Personally I think we should hold them without bale and then bring him on to change the game up. Reduces the risk of getting re-injured and creates an impact when we'll need it. We have the squad. He wont play. AVB would be stupid to use Bale after that twist. This IMHO is all spin and thats fine with me, but not I'm buying it.

When has AVB said in a pre-match press conference a player is fit and then not selected them? I can't remember a time tbh.

We will see - that twist "in my opinion" will need longer than two weeks. He might be on the infamous Lance Armstrong recovery plan, for all I know?
