@BenPearceSpurs says ---- Ignore Damiao rumours. Spurs aren't trying to sign him.

-----------------------------------------------------------------
Thats great (y) lets move on to likes of Soldado

As I have said in the LD thread I think this blanket statement that spurs aren't interested in signing him all seems a little too orchestrated. I think Levy is just trying to force Inters hand to get the deal done on his terms.

Barcelona seems to be the ones shedding players. With the state of spanish football is in we might have a good chance.

Realistically those 3 clubs mentioned won't really want to sell to other British clubs. Only players that have reached their sell by dates such as Barry. Back there again! Any young players that could become potential stars will probably go abroad. Having said that, I don't know about Sinclair?

United did want £6m from us for Fryers as well!

And latest (& another) injury to Damiao isn't helping Inter at all. Agreed that Levy could play Inter.

We should buy him for the right reasons. Last thing we need is to buy a striker and him spending more time in infirmary than on the pitch

Does anyone else think that we (Spurs) maybe biding our time to see what shakes up at the 3 clubs above us who have managerial changes?

e.g Gareth Barry
If that's the case, I think we would prefer someone better than Barry. Here's hoping Dzeko

Interesting point. But Ben Pearce is well worth heeding on this. Great journo, local to the club and has absolutely no reason to say anything other than what he hears. Is he being fed something misleading...? Perhaps, but I reckon (totally personal opinion, probably naive) that he'd sniff that out and not comment unless he really did believe we weren't interested.

For what it's worth, the Pearce quote today was the first time I really believed Leandro was over. It was actually quite liberating. ;)

I'd be astonished if Levy hasn't got a posse of agents keeping close tabs on Man City, Utd, maybe Chelsea to see if there's any bargains to be had.

Exactly. Although I hope we're not waiting on this before conducting any other business. There won't be many cast-offs from the top 3 that will massively improve us, but plenty of players that could be very useful to the squad. Regardless of the potential to get a bargain from the managerial shake-up, we should still be looking elsewhere for our main targets.

I would be fine with all this Damiao stuff if we would have signed Villa or Soldado already. Take the pressure off this deal finally and then hope Internacional come back crying and sell him for a cut price.

Problem is, even with cast offs, they are on more money than our top earners.

Yup this is a big issue. The like of Ba, Dzeko, Nani etc must all be on over 100k a week, and there's enough mega-rich clubs around that would pay those wages so it wouldn't be easy to lure them to the Lane.

Yes. Pearce is a very good journo and well connected to the club. I do believe he has been fed a party line though. It just seems a little suspect that all media sources are so adamant we're not after LD anymore when usually the club doesn't comment on speculation.

Totally agree, and there'll be good players who'll be looking for a good club. No guarantees someone suitable will become available or affordable but it'd be negligent to let players move on without looking.
The shame is that Chelsea are probably the best team to try and exploit on this due to their random purchasing policy, but hey, not best friends are we...

Metro reckon 10 of our players are up for sale and that BAE is wanted by Inter Milan

If we are set on getting rid of BAE, he could perhaps be a bargaining chip to get Guarin.

I don't think Guarin wants to come here though. I'm relatively sure Inter are in the CL again next season and they're a bigger club than us to be fair.

EDIT: maybe not, they're not even in Europe. Might be worth a punt then.

I reckon we could afford Nani. Be surprised if he earned £100k.
