Fairly meaningless as Barca and Madrid have been walking games every week in La Liga for a few seasons now. A lot of the goals will be in hammerings where the opposition gave up after 20 minutes.

For comparison, Messi scored 46 in La Liga last season, Villa got 10 in 28. Did Barca pay £34m for that? It's on a par with Defoe, underwhelming.

I expect Villa to return to Valencia.
that's like comparing the wife with the mistress. U know with is meanest?

Sugar coated ITK was last done by Adie, 1,000,000%.

Why should Baldini be lauded if what JJ said is accurate? Hypothetically speaking, if you were going for the job, would you not research the team and have an idea about every single one of the players and their strengths and weaknesses and how they fit in (or don't) to the system and team? I know I would.

Sometimes the truth is ugly, JJ has no need to lie. Maybe Baldini will get the proverbial finger out and change his opinion, early doors like.

No, but the person at the club whose toes are getting trampled on by the arrival of Baldini might have an axe to grind ?

So based on Villa's record at Barca last season against the teams in La Liga how many goals would we expect from him next season in the Premiership?
5-10
11-15
16-20
21+
Which one of these would justify the wages he'll undoubtedly expect?
Is he the best we can get?
I would hope these are the sort of questions being asked by the club.

Baldini "I've identified 6 players"
AVB "I want 5 of them"
Levy "1. You get fucking 1 of them. On loan

Will we break the world record on deadline day - or will the server creak and stop for additional memory implant, like last time?

Yeah, memory issues, that's just A&C switching the server on and off to get more donations.

Very worthy donations too I might add :hungry:

Are we really still having the 'Is The All-Time Record Goalscorer For The Reigning World Cup Holders And Double European Champions Good Enough For Us' debate?

Jesus Christ.

I don't think anyone doubts his class. But he is 31 and coming off a leg break and cruciate - I guess that is where people have their doubts. Personally I think with only one leg he'd be better than Defoe.

I said several times in January that Leandro's price will take a nose dive and thought that we might have had a serious chance in Jan had they properly realised this.

If you ask me, and this is purely speculation, I think that Inter are hoping that Leandro gets some more playing time in the Confederations cup over the next few games and bags a few goals, or just one really classy goal and attracts a bit more transfer interest.

Personally I think as soon as the confederations cup is over Inter will be keen to conclude the deal.

But they seem to be as stubborn as we are over this transfer, so who knows....

I know he's thought of as Satan, but Vickery said on Talkshite that Inter had hopes to add an extra zero to Leandro's fee if he had a good Confederations cup. However, he's injured (what again [my insertion]?), and one they're panicking. So maybe Danny isn't so stupid.

Lol

Andy Carroll tried to get a move to Newcastle and here. Was very much prepared to take a lot less than what the porno brothers have just agreed to pay him.

West ham have literally done a risdale with this one

In other news, lets hope Paulinho picks up a knock and Bernard gets no playing time. I think we might get BOTH!!

I'm starting to wonder whether Sandro was even injured at all. He has been our evangelist

Are you privy to how much Sandro being here had an impact on Paulinho? Sandro is a better player than Gustavo and if Paulinho gets a full season playing next to Sandro at a high level, I'd imagine it's got to be very appealing with this being a World Cup year.

All of this being said, we do think that there has been a lack of demand for Leandro (which does supply it's own dubiety) and that Inter are now considering that they might need to sell Fred to cover costs if they can't do a Leandro deal. If this is true (which who knows), it makes sense that Levy would have reignited interest and taken such a stance.
"dubiety". I had to check if there really is such a word. There is! Well done indeed.

Have to agree with the minority, I would be underwhelmed with Villa.
Whilst I agree his pedigree is top notch, stylistically I just don't see him fitting into the central striker role. In one of the wider roles, maybe, but seems a waste of him out there, square peg/round hole etc...
I actually feel he was, rather than is, a world class striker, but is on the downslope. Now, yes, we are not in the position to be going out signing World Class players in their prime, but I'd rather sign someone on the way up than the way down.
It is this last point that makes me doubtful Levy would sanction the sort of outlay on fees and wages required, knowing he's getting a player who will be 32 before the year is out.

The caveat to this is, if AVB decides he's the man to complete out strike force, I'll support Villa totally. He just wouldn't be my first choice.

I had a quick nose at Baldini's dealings over the last season or so, and he does seem find on the South American market.

Sorry thought I would join in

What is wrong with you people. You do not neg-rep a legend. He was talking to me and I listened.

This man gave you Dave and Fazza's absolute meltdown. You treat him as what he is.....one of the Gods of SC.

Now please remove your neg reps.

Sorry Ever. Carry on mate.

And lest you think this is sarcastic, Ever is up there with A&C and Houdini and Stoof and RSS and all of the other funny guys that have molded this into not only a great Spurs site but a great site period. They are the reason this board not only exists but is the best thing on the internet. I learned from them. And when they tell me to "fuck off", I fuck off fast.

Seems to me that we've been trying to buy Damiao for three years and now that Internacionale have indicated they will sell we've started negotiating by saying too late not sure we want him now.:)
Perhaps it's all a Baldric-like cunning ploy. We really want Fred ( the young midfielder, not the other one) in two years time.
We start bidding low next summer. The Inter president panics, and immediately agrees - having been stung by completely missing out on the Leandro's sale.

They actually hoped his value would go from about 15-20m to 150-200m during the Condederations Cup, did they ? Mad as a box of snakes I tell you !
