Imagine we started next season with a front 6 of these:

Paulinho - Dembele - Sandro

Bale - Mikhtaryan - Bernard

Even though it's not my money that would be gross spend of 60-70 million; feel that's a bit risky. Be interesting to see this is the sort of spend Jasper is alluding too...

No David Villa :(

No David Villa :(

Would you take Villa over the other two proposed front players? I don't think I would... I'm not sure I just think if we are going to spend 'aggressively'; Villa isn't a player we would bring in. Although he's more likely than Mkhitaryan

Well I can only judge fairly on Villa because I've (obviously) seen much more of him, than I have of Bernard & Mkhitaryan, both of whom I had never heard of until about a fortnight ago lol

I think I would...as he has won things in the game....think that kind of mentality is worth something in its self

Not really enjoying pissing on the fire, but obviously going to do just that, I can't help recall part of our Dear Leader's statement from 19th May:

Financial Fair Play (FFP) will hopefully see all clubs follow the kind of financial discipline we have followed as we run our Club on a sound financial basis without the benefit of a larger stadium. Short term cost control measures which limit the amount of increased broadcasting revenues clubs can spend to £4m per season and a requirement to break even will have an impact on clubs across Europe.

Is he playing it cute? 'Poor old Tottenham!' says Chairman Dan. I'd love to be wrong and see the cheques flying out of the door but last year we bought Vertonghen and Sigurdsson early for c.£20m & there was a lot of talk about investment and clear spends and such then we sold Modric and spent those funds ie. broke just about even after the initial summer splurge.

Can't help but think that we're in the same boat this year, maybe a little more leeway given Baldini's arrival and some faith shown in Andre, but certainly not too much. Anyway, Paulinho and Villa, god willing they come, should cost c.£23-26m and then we're back in the same boat., with 6-8 weeks to shuffle the deck.

Therefore selling Defoe for £8-10m becomes necessary, Huddlestone for £5m essential and so on. Without the outs there'll be no more ins. And I can't see a player like Mkhitaryan fitting into our finance model one bit.

So there we have it. I have high hopes, and in Baldini we've got a guy that can pitch well in the market, but he'll need to do every bit as well as Levy has in previous years in extracting maximum value out of our spend, clear or otherwise.

One can only assume that PSG coming in for AVB with Head Dizzying offers was true. And Levy gave AVB some assurances in order for him to stick around, that we wont just be making up the numbers with no real hope of ever doing anything that would match the ambition of his 'Project'

Bale stays, and we'll spend some serious money of top players instead picking up your clint dempsey types again

I can't see us signing Mikhtaryan... Too complicated name for us fans. I mean, we have difficulties spelling Friedel, Sigurdsson, Pavluv... Pavlyo... Pay... you know what I mean!

We have difficulty spelling about every word. True fact. The ban word was made so because Rob got so fed up with how poor our spelling was. I remember it being spelled with a Q, the # sign, as well as §, ¥ and Æ. One person even spelled it using 14 letters. It's a four letter word. Well regardless, Rob hates two things.....People who keep ferrets as pets and misspelling slurs. Hates it. Go ahead and test him. Call somebody a beltend and see how long you last here? He will go mental. And that's why it's banned. It's not because anybody is offended, but because we can't spell a simple word.

So we'll survive. We'll just call him Makka or Micky Ryan. ;)

Probably because it is. The only hope anyone can have is that it is an informed opinion as he has been explicitly told that we are interested in the player and are willing to spend the money.
Ryan tegan's heard the same hopefully there's some truth to it

Wouldn't MyTrain be an indicator we want to stay 4-2-3-1 rather than 4-3-3, since he's primarily an AM (AFAIK)?

Unless we want to play like Spain.
