Err Bale is an attacking mid, if he isn't providing service to his striker then he is doing something wrong. He can't shoot all the time, even Messi passes the ball on occasion...

Doubt we will part with over 20 million for Benteke, possibly around 17, but do not see DL going 20-25 mill, for that kinda money he would have a whole lot more proven and experienced strikers to choose from him. The secret here could be that Benteke has seemingly handed in a transfer request, so no transfer bonus for him, might drive the price down and like most clubs Villa cannot afford to let him "rot" on the bench.
Unfair to compare him to Bent or Carroll, much better hold up play than Bent and better all round than Carroll IMO.
Again I hope the croatians are sorted asap - losing these would disappoint me more than losing out on Villa, but the thoughts of losing them and Villa would be hard to take.
Time for Mr Baldini to show what he is made of over the next few weeks and again sooner rather than later, we cannot go into the season waiting on the bargain basement deals again this year, cost us enough last year, surely lessons were learned ? ?

Benteke is not worth close to 20m.
Dont get desperate people. It's easy to spend the clubs money but if we spent that money on Benteke we would never see it again.
Imagine we broke out transfer record for him. Feels like Darren Bent all over again. 1 good season and the press set the transfer fee. Nonsense.
For that kind of money we could actually go and buy Damiao and probably have money left over.

The only thing about benteke is he is 23, people said the same stuff about falcao for £25million and look how much he is worth now and he was older. I have been surprisingly impressed with his involvement during build play
Also for those calling him a one season wonder don't forgot he matched Alan shearers record of goals in a debut season which does kind of differentiate him from other season hit wonders

Yes we are talking about one of the best players in world football who happens to provide plenty of goalscoring opportunities to his team mates let alone score wonder goals on a regular basis.
Therefore me saying that Benteke will have a field day having Bale provide for him!!!
I aint got a clue what your annoyed about really.

Odd how we have these conditions that don't effect us as supporters on players in a position that WE DEMAND be filled
Villa too old
Benteke too much
Jese too inexperienced
Leandro too much of a pain in the ass
We need to come to grips with quality + experience + young = more than we will ever spend
So we get the players we hope can fit the system within the financial parameters we live by. If they are too much, that's ENIC's money
I would put a lot more credence on Benteke at 20+ million than I would on Leandro or Jese at their prices. Unless Baldini can talk Levy out of it, prem experience is more important than most qualities in a striker with Levy.

Is it me or do Daniel Levy's arms seem to shrink every time he leans forward
He looks like he's leaning in for the handshake on a deal but his arm gets no closer...
He looks like he's reaching further into the vault but the money gets no closer.
Try leaning back Daniel (or turning around)
The longer we take to get a striker the more reluctant a selling club will be, as they will need to get replacements... and the dance goes on...

Benteke could easily have submitted a request at Villa's behest, to save face with the fans looking like they're cashing in.
Why would he have waited til mid July if he wanted out?
He's clearly been asked to agitate for a move by someone & i'd imagine this deal is more straightforward than it might initially seem.
Villa freely admitting that they will entertain offers hardly strikes as the action of a club digging it's heels in.
Their transfers have been modest for some while now, getting £20m for Benteke would cover their entire summer spending too

There's no way we would of bought Paulinho without addressing the front positions; AVB, Baldini and co. aren't stupid or blind. For that fact, I'm confident we will bring a striker in.
