I’d recon contract cancellation is relevant only at the end of the transfer window. During the window there’s no point to cancel because at least there is a chance that someone would buy our players.
If you cancel a contact AFTER the close of the window then the player is not considered a free agent and cannot sign for a new club until the next transfer window. So all paperwork needs to be done to cancel before 11pm on 1 September.

It was not going back to Rosario as far as I’m aware. Which makes sense. I just don’t see us spending €30 odd mil on a 4th striker when there are other positions we really need. If we didn’t buy Veliz or he went on loan to Europe then sure but if our current three options are all staying it would make very little sense considering the greater situation.
I think it could make sense if we think Orban is a super talent and we want to buy him before his price-tag shoots up then loan him straight back out with the idea of bringing him in to replace Kane next summer.

Basically what we did with Udogie at LB except with a striker.

However since we need another CB more than we need another striker, and each would cost at least 30m to get the requisite quality, it does make you think buying Orban could be dependent on selling Kane, though. Can't see us dropping another 60m without selling the big man.

Would have thought Son/Rich and Veliz was sufficient even if Kane left

It's also worth remembering that the Saudi League transfer window closes 3 weeks later (20th Sept) so with no other options available in Europe for players I think a lot will get offers from Saudi.

Think it depends whether the club/Ange see Veliz as one for the future or someone they intend to actually use in the first team this season. He's still young and pretty raw so may not be ready for the PL yet.

I Dont see Orban being that far ahead of Veliz in development, I would much rather us focus on another CB, there is goals in the squad but defensively at CB we are light in quality

From Trix's update it sounds like Levy is going to have to take a big hit on a lot of players (Spence, Rodon, N'Dombele, Gil, Sanchez etc) before any other non-Kane business is done.

And we all know how much Levy likes doing that...

I think what’s happened in Saudi is probably why some players haven’t had their contracts written off 💰💰💰

Let's be honest all it would take is for Ange to call us mate and we would all do whatever he asks, Harry is in sure no different.

I can't imagine the new gaffer isn't massively impressing Harry so I'm not surprised his having doubts.

With the other outgoings I think Levy has to being in more outside help, this issue is becoming ridiculous. We can't sell and never make a profit on a player and now we're going for youngsters which is a policy we all approve of the ability to sell on is imperative for it to work

Selling Kane will generate a huge taxable profit against which any losses made on selling players/cancelling contracts can be set.

Basically 25% of any loss will be borne by the taxpayers not the club.

This will dull the pain a little.

How? At least we're actively getting players in rather than sitting on our hands waiting for the outs to happen, which has been the story of previous windows.

These players end up costing a fortune in wages before their contracts ultimately run out and they leave for nothing.

Surely it makes a lot more sense to just shift them now, even if the offers are below our (probably to high) valuations? There is no world where Tanganga, Lloris and Ndombele are worth more next year than they are today. Add in wages and it baffles me we simply don't cut our losses.

The days of Stoke and Sunderland buying all our unwanted players for top money are long gone, sadly...
