What annoys me is the seeming inability (bar a couple of exceptions, I'm not counting well-known players like Vertonghen, Lloris and even maybe Sandro who had won the South American equivalent of the Champions League) to find these players nah scratch that, find isn't the right word because its rare you stumble across a player that other clubs don't know about, its the inability to look at these players, usually in the less prestigious leagues, in accordance with what we need and identify that said unheralded player has the skill type which will provide a good fit in that position and scope to improve further and be a success for us.

With our finances it would make much more sense to get players such as Benteke in a stepping stone earlier in their career, rather than get shafted for an extra 15-20 million 1-2 years down the line.

Yeah for sure, agreed. But in the case of Benteke I think he'll be worth even more after another season which would definitely put him out of our reach. Time will tell on that one though.

Posted another Alfredo Pedulla story in the Jedvaj thread (about Halilovic).

Another "take it for what it's worth" story. It's "news" so I put it there. Is it credible? I wouldn't take his word for it, but I wouldn't rule anything out either.

Unfortunately, this is why that 'orrible lot down the road struck gold when they appointed Wenger.

Question is how Wenger would have dealt with Levy though, doubt things would be any different to how they have been and are now tbh.

So with Benteke ,Ade and Defoe .....that leaves us very weak?

Compared to the attack power of City, Chelsea and UTD? Yes it leaves us weak. Defoe scored 11 league goals last season while Ade scored 8. Bale scored 21 and he is a Midfielder so yes our attack is weak. If we get a prolific scorer or 2 and Bale repeats his performance we could at least double our goal tally.

Think that was more of a lucky coincidence really, with the scum appointing a French manager at a time when there was a lot of upcoming French talent.

His more recent record though is very hit and miss

So basically a Levy puppet.

Yeah, like in the films when you have an evil bald genius is hiding behind a swarthy Italian all the while pulling the strings & ensuring the world remains an evil place.

We're a football club, a modern business FFS.

Dawson? Bale? Lennon? Sandro? Walker? Naughton? BAE? Kaboul? - All bought from lesser leagues and brought in by us ok Kaboul wasnt fancied and sold to Pompey but we did bring him in to uk first. All now first team/squad players all brought in and developed along by THFC (y)

There are puppets, yes men in business didn't you know? Anyway it's just my perception based on what you said, I don't even know if what you said is correct or not.

Pretty sure Baldini's not just a yes man, highly experienced (expensive to hire) professionals tend to get hired to do a job, not just to agree........

How can Baldini be a puppet of Levy's when all the information points to it being AVB who wanted Baldini as a DOF

Not sure if that's good or bad! Also has that info come before or after our last itk regarding those 2 players.

20-25m can get you many many quality players. if spurs are willing to stump up the cash i hope they are going to widen their options. i mean hell jovetic's release is 30m euros. i absolutely love benteke but 28 is stretching it. if i have to pay 28 i rather jovetic.

He could have just appointed him just to stop AVB from walking out but giving him no real power except doing his donkey work. I'm expecting Baldini to have the same kind of role and impact as other DOF, but when I see Benetke has a target, that kind of brings up a red flag to me.
