Maybe Benetke is just a smoke screen for another player we're after.

Or maybe, being a top DOF means you know all types of decent potential players, that are based in England and doesn't have to have an inho at the end of the name to be a good player.

Strange vibe today. Maybe it's the sun. A bit of perspective needed. Just imagine for a moment that you don't read anything from "ITKs", and all you hear is what's in the news.

What has happened so far? The window has been open for a week or so, we have signed a superb Brazilian international midfielder and missed out on Villa because he wanted to stay in Spain. And now we are in the race to sign Benteke.

This still to me sounds exciting and very positive. So much time left in the window.

The other thing I have to disagree with is the notion that there are only a few strikers out there available. Just because a few have been mentioned as available doesn't mean that is all. Wouldn't be surprised to see a left field signing that noone hears about.

The club has folded. Well youd think it has. As ever fuck all mate. Just we were expecting villa benteke and the whole croatian under 21 team but thats unlikely now.

Of course this is the problem when you know about our interest early doors..it raises expectation and compounds the unhappiness when invariably things dont materialise. Ignorance is definitely bliss.

I'm guessing you're looking for players that we don't actually want, given that it's currently a who's who of players we've missed out on?

Another thing currently between us and Liverpool. In all probability we'll be keeping our best player and they'll be selling their best player. That would be a big part of my pitch if I were pitching to Benteke!!!

Trouble is, Liverpool selling their best player is what will guarantee Benteke a game there.

There is no way that Benteke is worth £25m let alone £28m but its pointless comparing him to certain more "elite" players. These players won't come to us, Benteke will.

So we have a choice of paying slightly over market value for a player that would be happy to come and be an improvement to our squad (say £20m for Benteke) or chase the Higuains and Jovetics of this world who are more worthy of the money but will reject us.

Paying over market value as a general rule is not a good idea (hi scousers) but sometimes its necessary in order to get where you want.

what makes jovetic elite? from what i can see on here, people are underrating benteke. familiarity breeds contempt i guess?

The problem is someone needs to let Defoe know that the season is longer than 4 months or 15 games.

Nathan Byrne joins Swindon on a permanent deal, while Pritchard joins on a season long loan.

Depressing news. IMO the lower echelons of the footballing world are not the best place for Pritchard. This boy should be training with the first team, getting bench time and seeing time in the Europa & League cup and getting to play with better players and being protected by better refs. Not having the shit kicked out of him for free in league 1. I know he's young but he has a strong character and natural ability on the ball. League 1 is not always the place for this type of player to shine. Could stunt his career, not help it.
