If we get Benteke I think we're gonna be a force to be reckoned with this season and hopefully not have to rely on Bale's last minute wonder goals so much.

He would be a great signing but

When you become a top club one of the things that has to be considered when making a big signing is timing, A little part of me is scared it is a season too early but I hope it isn't

JJ has stuck his neck out and called the Benteke deal, ITK reports in general have not had many hits in recent times. Will be interesting to see if this is yet another miss.

I'm not a big fan of ITKs as I think a lot of it can just be pure bullshit and speculation. To be fair though, it's all down to the information fed to the ITKs. It could be 100% spot on at the time, for it to change at the last minute. Look at the Villa deal. It does seem that the ITKs were correct about our interest and bids going in but Villa seemed to have decided to stay in Spain.

Can't really argue with his numbers, but i'm still a little skeptical about spending £20m on him. Yeah, yeah, i'm old, i have to accept inflation and all that crap, but considering the number of one-season-wonders the Prem's seen come and go in the last few years, it'd be a very large investment, especially if it wasn't staggered and performance/appearance based.

No reason to believe he'll be a one season wonder, he showed enough ability outside of simply scoring goals to suggest he is a good player. In fact our coaching staff are probably licking their lips at the chance of working with him because he's still far from the finished article.

I don't rate him, but if JJ is right and we are signing him, I hope I'm wrong and he ends up to be a great buy

Totally agree mate. I believe we were in for D.Villa, just that he turned us down in the end.
It seems to be a different situation with Benteke, its quite clear that the biggest hurdle in the transfer will be the fee and if that has more or less been agreed now, as the ITK indicates, that is a big call in my eyes.

But santa cruz had already struggled at bayern.

Benteke's statistics are more like soldado at the same age.

Honestly, none of us know for sure if Benteke is going to be a one year wonder or our answer to the striker position for years. It's an argument based completely off opinion. Does he have the necessary skills to be a good striker? Of course he does. If he didn't he wouldn't have scored that many goals in his first season in the EPL. Does he have things he could improve? Surely. Most 22 year olds do.

If we end up getting Benteke, we've just got to hope the purchase will be justified with his play over the next few years. It's all we really can do.
