Agree.
Having 2 wing forwards (at least that's what I think AVB is looking to) will certainly limit the supply to the striker. Benteke is the main man at AV. They give every ball to him.
If Lennon's playing he will have supply, but if it's Bale and someone like Chadli, they will try to score from outside the box rather than cross or assist. Benteke would need to create his own chances, and I don't see him do that.

I think Benteke's former partner at Genk is a very good choice, maybe as backup/rotation. Jelle Vossen. Has better stats than Benteke and is a really amazing finisher.

They are both second striker, even if they are playing on their own. The #9 is a centre forward that works a lot of time with his back to the goal.

Is Defoe a #9?

Yet David Villa was his first choice until he rejected us. Falcao is not a big guy. He's 5'10.
And at Chelsea he used Fernando Torres, certainly not a powerful player, even when he had Drogba.

Sorry you can't say that like its fact. We might well of had every intention of pursuing Benteke even had we got Villa.

Villa is nearly 32 and Benteke is 10 years younger than him. And we may well have tried to sell Ade and Defoe.

And another point of view is that we may have felt Benteke, initially, was just that little bit out of our reach and then decided to move for Villa. Now its forced our hand to go back to what could of been our first target...hypothetically speaking of course.

Many shades of grey in all this, just because we moved for Villa first (and even that isn't conclusive just because we moved first for him publicly speaking) does not mean he was preferred to Benteke and was our outright first choice.

My onion on Benteke.

First of all i would state that my preferred option as a new CF for next Season would be Solado. As it is unlikely we will get him I would like to state my feelings on Benteke. I had actually never heard of the guy before we played Villa at the Lane. But afterwards I definitely had. IMO he was the best player on the pitch. He dominated every high ball and bossed our defenders for 90 mins. I therefore took more notice of him after that. My onion is that he was by far the best young striker in the league last season. Is he worth 25M though? At the moment the answer is probably no. But, if he has another season like last the answer is a definite yes. So I ask myself why are people on here a bit negative about him. There are a number of answers to that question and maybe some of them will be proved right. One big answer is that he is not David Villa. Like most of you I was bitterly disappointed that we will not be seeing him here next season. However, that ship has sailed so we must look to the best that we can now obtain. My onion is that Benteke is worth a punt. He is most definitely an upgrade on the forwards we had last season. Is he a one season wonder? IMO the answer is no way! So lets go for it!

Benteke handing in a transfer request relinquishes his rights to 15% (which equates to around £4.5mil of a £30mil fee) This could make £25mil a more realistic figure.If Spurs are in with a first bid of £20mil,the two sides are not going to end up that far apart.I'd guess that somewhere around the 23 mark will see him go-Hope I'm wrong though but handing in that request shows to me his determination to leave.

I have to say,my feelings are "**** him".Another season would have been about fair on all parties-I don't suppose "fair" comes into it with a few million quid at stake though

Rooney is massively overrated not sure I'd take him over Benteke. Hi guan from what I've seen is a much better player though!

It's not very imaginative to go for Benetke, a club like us needs to search for the best deals, this guy is worth 20-28 million just because he had one good season in the prem, I think he would be a very risky signing.

Perhaps we should wait a few seasons to see if he's really any good then. The only problem with that is we have no idea who he'll be playing for by then, or how much more his club might value him at.
