At face value yeah but then you would also have to factor in being more attractive to shirt/stadium sponsors and potentially keeping Bale so could be worth a lot more than that...

Very true. I just think that the value of spending big on a proven striker like Soldado is easily outweighed by the amount of extra money consistent Champions League football would bring.

If it breaks down now I am done with everything...
Honestly, yeah. I think I'll stop forruming tbh. Just tune in to the games and forget all of this nonsense.

Can I just say ValYid is class on most days.

But a potential deal kicking off in his back yard? This is just too good

Anything he says on this is way above any other source out there.

Fine tuning...? Im pre ordering the shirt right now ;)
Fair play to you Ryan aswell. I think you were the first ITK to mention Soldado

But last time we made CL we didn't make much extra as wage bill jumped by 15million as I would imagine at spurs many contracts are performance related.

Isn't Champions League good for about £25-30m of additional income?

Say you spend £22m on Soldado with variables that can reach £30m.

You then pay him £100k/week (£5.2m/year)

If we end up getting 3-4 seasons of him banging in around 20 goals, that could really put us over the top and in my opinion makes us title challengers.

3-4 seasons = £100m on the low end of things for CL income.

-£30m if he meets the variables
-£5.2m x 4 years (£20.8m)

~ £49.2m profit off of a huge expenditure that could really be the tipping point for the club.

If you make it to the group stages, you got a minimum €8.6m last campaign. Teams then got €1m for a win and €500k for a draw. From there, in the round of 16 you get €3.5m, the quarter-finals €3.9m, and the semi-finals €4.9m. €10.5m goes to the overall winners and €6.5m to the runners up.

Outside of guaranteed amounts, I believe you also get a variable amount for your marketing region's tv income. I believe this is where most of the money comes from for English teams.

Edit: in 11/12 season, United got €27.3 for being runners up, but
25.9 for market share.

£26mil + add ons? They'd be stupid not to accept!

Let's be honest, the "add on" is probably Jake Livermore...

Furthermore, we can probably put some CL qualification dependant clauses into the transfer fee and maybe even his wages, to protect ourselves further

If something seems too good to be true it probably is. There is no way I can see us spending that kind of money on a player, let alone a 28 year old with no sell on value. The top we spend on a player is 16 to 18m. This deal is completely out of line with our recent history and the financial realities of a club our size.
