Sorry but anyone (associated with football or not) would recognise that 100 million is well, 100 million. One of the best sides in Europe over the past two decades sold their star player for 80 million.
I don't see anyone in their right mind (including Levy at his most arrogant) turning that money down or even being allowed to turn that money down irrespective of what AVB or anyone else thinks about Bale. We could replace him for half that amount leaving enough for Levy to ponder on which Hawaiian paradise he wants to buy with this cut.
As I said in the Gareth Bale thread:
We might be able to take 80 or 90m and replace most of Bale's effect on the football pitch. But Bale isn't worth 90m+ to us only because of what he does on the pitch. He's how we get world class talents like Paulinho and Soldado to view our club as a step up instead of a fifth-place club with a stadium that only seats 36k. He's how we convince our world-class young manager to tell PSG and their nine-figure transfer budget to piss off. Bale isn't just a great winger, he's ten thousand screaming fans at the Asia cup wearing Spurs kits with 11 on the back, and a hundred thousand more in the rest of the world. Bale is, at the moment, everything that allows us to push towards being one of the true top clubs in football. Having one of the best three or four players in the world isn't just about what he brings to the pitch, it's about what he enables for the club. And thats why Lamela and Coentrao and Bruma and Dzeko still wouldn't make up for losing bale, and why he won't be sold until we've milked everything we can from his success and put THFC in the best possible position to move forward once he is gone.
