We might be able to take 80 or 90m and replace most of Bale's effect on the football pitch. But Bale isn't worth 90m+ to us only because of what he does on the pitch. He's how we get world class talents like Paulinho and Soldado to view our club as a step up instead of a fifth-place club with a stadium that only seats 36k. He's how we convince our world-class young manager to tell PSG and their nine-figure transfer budget to piss off. Bale isn't just a great winger, he's ten thousand screaming fans at the Asia cup wearing Spurs kits with 11 on the back, and a hundred thousand more in the rest of the world. Bale is, at the moment, everything that allows us to push towards being one of the true top clubs in football. Having one of the best three or four players in the world isn't just about what he brings to the pitch, it's about what he enables for the club. And thats why Lamela and Coentrao and Bruma and Dzeko still wouldn't make up for losing bale, and why he won't be sold until we've milked everything we can from his success and put THFC in the best possible position to move forward once he is gone.

You could add all the shirts, scarfs, rattles and bubblegum and tea in China together and still not come up with 100 million endorsements and sponsorship. This fantasy idea that Bale would attract "World Class" players is just that, fantasy. If not then why didn't we even attract Benteke? (hardly World class) and Villa to the club?

Paulinho has (from what i am told) trebled his earnings and that my friend is what it's all about, money and bugger all to do with who they line up next to. Next your'l be telling us all that Cavani would have come to Spurs but for the doubt about Bales future?

Because he will not earn the Club 100 million (unless he is transferred) , i thought that pretty bloody obvious. For some strange reason you make it sound like the Club gets 10 million a season for Bale to put a Spurs shirt on?

Madrid are desperate for him because the Presidenti wants to be bloody re-elected, another obvious fact. It's not hard to grasp that 100 million to a Club with ambitions of a new stadium and the like is a huge chunk of change.

You really can't see how keeping a global name like Bale, which is going to keep increasing, would not benefit this Club massively. The growing fan base, the exposure, the demonstration of ambition to others which would rapidly increase our chances to attract more quality players, more lucrative naming rights could be secured, sponsorship, image rights...just goes on and on.

I can't put a figure on it, hell Levy would probably struggle to do that in any precise sort of way. We are talking about projections as well here, that's why I'm saying it might not be as simple as just saying yeah x amount would be hard to turn down.

The point is these are factors Levy will be considering very carefully, you can bet your life on it.

Bale could well go for 80 million for all I know, maybe he will really push for it...and maybe Levy will decide his stock isn't likely to be this high again, but I'm betting some of the above will be at the forefront of his mind when all this is being weighed up.

You're ignoring the long term affects IMO.

Someone in the Soldado (3) thread has said that Soldado has said goodbye to his colleagues at Valencia and is coming over for a medical tomorrow.
Apologies for crashing this Bale thread but I thought it was of interest, if not relevant I'll erase it, I don't want to get into trouble.

I did not say goodbye to the Soldado (3) thread before it locked up :(

Perez is standing unopposed, he is going to be re-elected either way!

Wouldn't worry too much buddy. It's considerably more relevant than Jurgen bloody Klinsmann!

Locked by the mods because of too many songs being made up.

I don't blame them. It is one thing making songs when someone has signed but they will make us look absolute idiots if he doesn't. Another thread ruined where I wanted to put my high quality translations :(

JJetset said the same, something to do with 'holding the fort' or something.

Haha holding the fort....on a part time basis. :)

I can laugh now because it is hilarious we were being run shambolically off the pitch. Pleat was scouting but had nobody to submit the reports to.

People say how professional football is. It truly is not despite all the money.

so have we sold bale yet? Im joking the offer to eat my turd is there if he does leave (BUT HE WILL NOT)

Daily mail saying levy has flown to have crunch talks with Bale rather than going on holiday in Florida. Would he really be on holiday during our transfer window anyway?

Edit - Meant to put this in the bale thread sorry

AVB never stated that we wanted Benteke, like he has Soldado?
