Graham told a whole of people at a box he was hosting that Spurs had signed Villa and it was 100% done I would take his comments with a pinch of salt.

every piece of info needs to be taken with a pinch of salt (started taking it when I joined SC, and now have an ulcer)

How so?

Defoe was bloody absent yesterday and as been since Boxing Day 2012. Ade blows hot and cold and cannot be relied on for the TEAM. We need another striker willing and able to put in a shift, play in AVB's system and not fucking bleat when on the bench.

We don't need 4 strikers for what will regularly be 1 position. If you'd said "replace" instead of "another" then we'd be agreeing, but to suggest we need 4 strikers right now is nuts.

I know we're spending money at the minute but we have far more pressing concerns in the team. Assuming we haven't just won the lottery and that we'd need to be quite liberal in our spending, I'd rather see us spend on defence and an attacking midfielder capable of passing.

Also, people do forget just how useful Defoe and Ade can be. The fact that we can consider them backup right now is a huge plus. Improving on them with someone willing to be another back up player is nigh on impossible. Anyone better than those two could and should be a regular starter somewhere very respectable.

Agreed. Defence is the key. We need class defenders. We have good stand-ins in Walker, BAE, Dawson and Rose. Kaboul may have long term injury concerns. For my money (well, DL's!) we are light on reliable quality.

Ok this is not ITK.
This is from a mate of mine who is a season ticket holder. Who i know really well was at the game yesterday, was telling me he was told by a season ticket holder he knows and sits near, who was in the irish bar with graham roberts before the game and had pictures taken with him ( He saw the pictures as well). And apprently Roberts told him, bale will sign a new deal and will 100% be here this season.
He wouldnt make it up either, he isnt one for rumours didnt believe soldado had signed till he saw it on the OS lol.
I find it very strange roberts would say this in such a public place. I dunno what to make of it tbh. Jusy thought i would pass it on.

Soooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo if this is true does he mean an extension to his existing length of contract or just more wonga for the same period?

He was endorsing Last seasons bullshit Kuwait takeover rumours.

He is flat mates with aqka boy.

So if an ex-player gets it wrong it's "bullshit" but if (FOR EXAMPLE MODS) an ITK regular got it wrong it's a case of the goal posts moving and or excessive player demands e.t.c.?

Just saying like.

At what ...drama queening?

If you seriously think that Defoe can lead the front line in what by all accounts will become a 4-3-3 formation then your very freaking much mistaking on that count. He's finished in this team, playing the kind of footie AVB wants to play.

Ade would be o.k., but i think AVB is looking for an upgrade on him to share the workload with The Soldier.

I dunno why but I feel stupidly confident this season. I'm normally awash with doubt and worry at this stage. Expecting us to fall-short etc. Not this time. Just interested to see the outgoings now. We could recoup the majority of our outlay if all goes well.

Because something feels right. It just does. And it's alien and wierd and uncomfortable.

But this is a fucking good team. And it's so good that we are losing our shit for a loss and a draw in two matches with many players missing.......IN PRE-SEASON.

That in bold is big. Because I know we can be ridiculous as fans. Hell I've been a worst case offender in my day. But the discontent over these is oddly loud and telling of how uncomfortable Yids are with having expectation (of the real kind) handed to them.

I was rolling my eyes at some of the response yesterday.....but today I'm seeing it in a whole new light.

We don't need to add one person to contend for more than 4th. And yet we will. That's one of the few things all the ITK's actually agree about.

And if we keep Bale.......well........I think there are some of us who won't be able to handle that kind of expectation. There are going to be some major shit-storms here the DaFG (day after fax glitch) and most of them will be because we kept Bale and because for the first time in most of some of these fans lives.......we have to be great.

I've seen it here in Boston. Red Sox fans were less equipped for 2005 than any season of their lives.

Andros only turned 22 a few weeks ago. He wants first team action then give it to him. He only played a few months prem football for the worst team in the league. Send him out on loan one more time to a good level prem team that isn't relegation material, were he will be under some pressure to perform. Then Andre can make the call

But he has something to offer the team. We need him as cover. We needed him last season!

when there was just Bale and Lennon and nothing else. Especially with lennon never managing to have a injury free season but now there's Chadli also. Assuming Bale stays he isn't going to play many premier league games, and start very very few if any at all. And he clearly isn't interested in that based on his comments.

Sure we may like him on the bench just in case, but he isn't interested. Hence the loan rather than sell

I recorded the game and watched it late at night yesterday, and started quivering with fear at how good our team might be when I saw the likes of Soldado running around. It was an actual physical quiver of seeing us have a top notch striker, strength everywhere, Sandro and Kaboul returning etc and yet somehow still expecting something will go horribly wrong because it must be too good to be true.

Thats what the Spurs of the 90s did to me in my teenage years ;)

Regarding this injury to Bale - If ends up playing this Wales friendly, to me it would be showing lack of respect for the club & the fans. May be he is still recovering from the rumored foot injury , may be he is getting fit; if he does play for Wales, minimum I need is some information on why he has been missing.

Soldado movement was great & got into some nice positions.

I was very very happy to see Kaboul back. And tbh, he was looking so dominant - at no time in the 30 min he was at pitch , showed any sign of weakness.

I don't think going on loan will help him get in the first team long-term. AVB clearly has some issues with what he's doing (or not doing). If he's ill disciplined in terms of not releasing the ball early enough, or not pressuring the opposition enough, then the only way he's going to learn is through playing in AVB's system or through training under AVB.

Any club we send him to isn't going to instill the same values in him that AVB desires - so in my opinion he either has to learn quickly or he will be sold. I hope he can work it out.
