I can't believe that his last goal for us will be against effing Swindon! He could at least have signed off with a hat-trick at The Emirates!!

In fairness though, wasn't the Ronaldo deal done in principle a year earlier and kept quiet about it?

I do think any done deal that's occurred two weeks ago does sound implausible but the levels of money involved, I wouldn't completely dismiss it totally out of hand.

Keep seeing the old "players come and go but we are Tottenham Hotspur" line..

We are the famous Tottenham Hotspur and we currently own the most sought after human being on the planet...
Lets show him that we will carry on being Tottenham but with him and whether he likes it or not!!

This saga reminds me of extra time in a world cup quarterfinal except this is lasting too long and can't take it anymore. Please be sept 3rd tomorrow! !!

I think we'll be fine either way. ITK has been decently positive on both sides; it sounds like he will be properly replaced with 2-3 players.

Analogy: Your super hot girlfriend is going to possibly leave you, but if she does, 3 almost as beautiful women agree they will have sex with you.

It's a win-win, and you kinda have to wonder about that super hot girlfriend if you keep her around. You would start to wonder if you should have let her go, and instead, went with the 3 hotties that want to get it on. If you do go with the three as well, you can always score with one of them, and don't have to rely on just the 1 for some action. Happy times either way :)

God it's like a funeral in here.

Berba came and left
Luka came and left
VDV came and left

Bale came and he may very well leave

Whether he stays or goes, we'll still be Tottenham Hotspur, we'll still fucking hate Arsenal and North London will still be fucking lilywhite!

No player is bigger than the club!

COYS
and I want the players to want to play for Tottenham...It's a bloody honour...to wear the shirt of those who've gone before. So count me in with the "oh well" brigade cos I'm backing the team not one player. We'll continue to improve

I've only been a member of SC for about a year, but have never seen such conflicting and contrasting views and supposed insider knowledge from our reliable ITKs, what a transfer window this is turning out to be, buckle up for the last couple of weeks

I'm unsure wether you're just taking a shot or making a joke, either way it's 'singing'. The fat lady sings, she doesn't do fucking autographs ;)
Only Fat Lady I remember singing was Montserrat Caballe, and she sang.......... Barcelona,
we all know Bale ain't going there ....so obviously he is staying

Here's another angle to the whole deal agreed affair; The Press. They've been all over the Bale saga like flies on shit and would refuse to let something as huge as a deal being agreed pass them by. With Barnett talking to any **** who'll put a mic in front of him, the chances of a deal being agreed not being picked up by a journo is zero.

Looked on W'ham forums and their 'ITK's who supposedly have good strike rates say a deal for Defoe is on.

He'd be good for them to be honest. Think I'd rather get rid of Ade though as I feel Defoe would be more comfortable playing 2nd fiddle to Soldado than Ade would.

Goats info doesn't really make much sense. Transfers don't happen like that.

If the deal was done then I think the two managers would know. Their recent comments would make them both look stupid if Bale was already sold.

I don't think they can.

Ultimately if Real offer 100m on the final day, he goes. It's not ideal, but that's the way these things play out.

We might say he's not for sale, but bids still come in and bids are entertained right to the death.

Fair point. I would just assume that this case, being 'slightly' bigger and potentially more disruptive to the club, dressing room, and the fact that replacing him being essential that Levy will have made a decision on a sell by date. In previous years I would not have put it past Levy to sell him on deadline day without a suitable replacement (e.g. Berba) but there seems to be a greater sense of purpose and strategy to the dealings this time around. But perhaps I am just being naive...

Sherlock Holmes: The Itinerant Welshman

A fog descends over a poorly lit London street, Sherlock Holmes & his trusty sidekick, Watson are walking & discussing the latest tranche of ITK relating to a most puzzling case:

'Holmes, oft I have noted your brilliant mind, & as such I would be not disinterested in your suppositions regarding the potential likelihood of a transferring agreement for Mr Bale, a talented yet frustrating oik, of who's services have attracted the interest of the King of Spain. Just this very evening the rumours spreading around the lower classes & women of the night are shall we say, intriguing?'

'Tis a compelling, frustrating and inpenetrable case, and one that I have wrestled over in the dark of many a night, Watson dear chap...'

'I must agree entirely, Holmes. Here, the soupy, all encompassing fog that surrounds us appears to have greater clarity than this most fiendish of cases. It is thought that Mr Levy, a baccarat player of some rare skill, is playing a game of extremely high stakes this time & yet despite much opinion from all, including those thought close to said parties, nobody can be quite sure what decisions are to be made.'

'I concede it defeats me. To surmise my every thought on this case would require many a volume of writings; clues may be found in the vast depository of the SC library. It holds many, many hundreds, dash it, Watson, THOUSANDS upon THOUSANDS of pages of ill advised opinion on the matter and amongst that blather and baloney there is indeed some truth; though where it may reside, one shalt surely never know.'

'I concur, Holmes. We have wasted enough time. Other cases are indeed more pressing.'

'Yes, Watson, the perplexing duality of Mr Archibald and Mr Crooks bears more than a passing resemblance to that of Mr Jekyll and Mr Hyde, our investigation must proceed there... Onwards.'

if you can get quotes and names we can add it, but as long as they consider them ITK

'Kumb insider says the Defoe deal is on...

Trap says it's not...

There's only one way to find out the truth...'

---

'Not knocking Trap as I appreciate the info he passes on but I'm sure KUMB Insider has a very good strike rate with him info doesn't he?'

---

'That's my impression too.'

If Bale goes, we need to spend the money from him on a new attacking winger/striker and a LB, with the other signeings I think we will then have a stronger "squad" for a team game. Don't want him to go, but if he does it has to be right for the club with other top quality players coming in before he goes.

I thought their left back was part of the deal plus 85 mil?

Can't say that i am overly disappointed, first because we can strengthen the team in more than one area and secondly at least it Real fucking Madrid and not Man fucking Ure.

We have to be happy with the outcome if true given the circumstances. Levy would be stupid to turn this offer away in my opinion. Refresh the squad, add quality, reduce the average age and tear a new arse in Perez. I for one can sleep well knowing that we have a better Spurs squad if this deal goes down than if we kept Bale.

If Levy were PM we as a County would definitely have a trade surplus!
