Pretty sure some of that money has to be paid for salaries. Don't think Bales salary transfers directly into 5 new players salaries.

Why are people presuming we will spend all of the Bale money?

I can't answer for anyone else but I just got that impression by our spending so far and the fact that we've had ITK pointing to our interest in Willian and Lamela, players that would take our spending this summer over £100 million.

It would make sense to splash the cash if Bale leaves so I don't think it's unreasonable to expect us to do so. We all know Daniel Levy though, and he is special. Wouldn't surprise me if this is another "wheelbarrow of cash moment" in the making. I think we're likely to be spending another 50 million at least though.

I agree with this, my only concern is the amount of time we have left to deal with everything and its not like we are making extra effort to tie contracts up ASAP... Word that Lamela might not be done till Monday/Tuesday does not fill me with confidence for the coming week. But at least it should be exciting!

This. Ill be pleasantly surprised if we manage to sign more than two players in this last week. We may have all the cash and intent to buy top players in the world, but time is running out and we can easily be trumped by "bigger" clubs re any quality targets we spend time on trying to land.

But we've also sold big earners like Dempsey, Parker and Gallas to accommodate wages for new signings haven't we?

103 pages is it worth reading?

Starts off with hope, turns to despair, to levy's f##### up again while others say Levy's god, to Chelsea hate, to 'we should buy this player instead', to paranoid people thinking we will lose all our targets to other clubs and get relegated to I Hope JJ comes on here and gives us some positive news.

Watching Edgar Davids on A League of Their Own tonight reminds me how far we've come. I remember back then how surprised I was that we could sign Davids at the back end his career. He was still great and it's a real honour to have seen him wear our colours.

Compared to today though we are now signing some of the top players around at a much younger age. I think we're going about things the right way. Hopefully a number of these players can breakthrough to the next level together and become great stars for us.

It will be really interesting to see if anyone can have a breakthrough season for us this season. When we lost VDV and Modric I felt absolutely gutted. Yet if it wasn't for that it would not have resulted in Bale being the main man and reaching the heights he did.

For every player we miss out on or sell lies an opportunity for someone else to step up.

no matter how its dressed up selling bale and getting 85m in return is not moving us forward if we kept him with the players that have been signed then i beleive we would be up there but all we are going to do is move sideways and thats all we will do until we stop selling our best assets . and i dont think the players mentioned with us would even come close to replacing him . so again it means 5th at best atleast the bindippers have some balls shame levy hasnt

Let's pretend that Soldado, Paulinho, Capoue and Chadli slotted right into those wage spaces. Don't think we can spend exactly what we sold plus the £50 million straight into transfers without worrying about the wage bill. £20 million less than what we sell and the £50 millions and I'd say we did pretty well.

some people here need to cop on! naturally disappointing to lose out on Willian in such circumstances, but lets be honest he only became a major target last week when he was placed on the transfer list! I'm sure we have other targets, quality targets!

and lets not forget about a certain Lewis Holtby, whom i feel can be the creative spark we need if he is given a substantial run in the team! we have the best squad in ages, lets realise that!
