People love Lennon because he is 'exciting'. I'll take boring and effective over 'exciting'. We need more goals and assists, not someone with the ability to skin the occasional player. I know people love Lennon, but can't believe people think we can't do better. He has had plenty of time to improve, now it's time to move on. With Lamela and another first choice wide player + Chadli and Townsend, we have players for now and the future.

Soooo many ppl on here goes for the new and shiny.

People always do, they always rave about youngsters who give few good appearances, not that long ago Rohan Ricketts was the next best thing based on few nice appearances only to fade into obscurity. And people also always make anyone coming in as a saviour whereas in reality be it top team or bottom team, quite a few of the purchases will never live up to expectations.

Anyway with rumours of Lennon, Benny, Defoe and Bale leaving, that would leave us with only Dawson with more than 100 games in PL with Spurs. And with Ade (and Gomes) possibly going too, there aren't that many with 50 or more. Actually just Sandro, Walker and Kaboul.

Pissed = drunk

As in 'Grey fox is fucking pissed'

Pissed off = annoyed

As in 'Gareth Bale is fucking pissed off cos Levy isn't budging'

The Bale deal is still going to happen guys, it's just nice to know we're now rinsing them for every penny as their desperation grows.

RM are probably waiting for us to have spent a large amount of money and committed ourselves to his sale to fund them. At least that would be my tactic. However, we have been stymied in our Willian pursuit and might not have time to cook up a replacement, so therefore RM might have to get the cheque book out for a larger amount than they intended. Bale is contracted to us till 2016. We would still make a hefty profit if we forced him to sit it out for 2 more years and then sold him. Doubt we will do this, but it should factor into the amount we are willing to deal on.

Agree that we should not sell Lennon without a v good replacement. etc. Lamela can play there and Townend, but I do think he offers a known quantity.

If we are genuinely moving for Hulk there could be truth in Lennon being sold

Conceivably you would have Hulk on the right of a three behind Soldado, with Lamela central...and say like Eriksen from the left.

Townsend, Chadli etc...cover. Still would get plenty of game time. Eriksen could cover Lamela off Soldada as well, who in turn covers the right.

And couldn't Hulk cover Soldado up top?

4-3-3? Don't know. A variety of both systems probably.

POTL is usually quick to quell any rumours of Lennon going.
To be fair, I don't recall any tangible link from a prospective club looking to buy Lennon but if anyone will shed good insight on Azza, it's our friend pottel.

Lennon got our most assists last season and would have gotten more had we had a decent striker, so it makes no sense getting rid of the player who got our most if you are looking for more assists far better to get rid of one of the others that don't provide enough. Chadli was bought as a cover player, I can't see him being a serious regular first choice, Lennon on the other hand I can

Soooo many ppl on here goes for the new and shiny. Giving stick to players like BAE, Defoe, Daws, Lennon and Hudd. Remember that we used to have a squad of mostly english players competing for 3rd/4th. Suddenly half the squad is gone and now Lennon is on his way. We have people named Chadli, Capoue, Soldado and Paulinho, but we are yet to secure a top 4 finish. Just sayin'

The game has become much more global and I the league was much weaker when we had top 4. We have been competing against international teams, so why not join them? I am not British so I can't feel the anger some of you have, but I want to compete and could care less if he was from the planet Zoltan. Just saying.

But hasn't been that effective in his career and is rather predictable player and once PL defenders get to know him, well. At the moment I would play Townsend, but if I had to choose wether to keep him or Aaron in the squad. Aaron easily.

If we bring in better than Lennon, I'm ok with us selling him. We haven't at this point, we've only signed chadli. Townsend has had a couple of good games which is great, but as things stand I'd be gutted if Lennon left. He's been a vital part of the team for years. New signings do funny things to people's opinions

I'd rather have Lennon in the team than Chadli everytime, and I reckon every premiership full back would agree given the choice of who to mark, so......

I respectfully disagree. I don't know why Chadli keeps getting overlooked here, but he is an incredibly effective dribbler and crosser of the ball. He created two great goal-scoring chances for Paulinho today that should've been put away. Lennon has more pace than Chadli, but isn't anywhere near as versatile. Chadli also is excellent tracking back defensively. There's a reason AVB has played him the entirety of both games so far, and a reason he keeps lots of players superior to Lennon on the bench for Belgium.

Furthermore, Lennon is most comfortable on the right, where we will have Lamela and Townsend. I'd much rather have the extra cash to reinvest into upgrading our left-back, than see Lennon stay and get limited minutes.

Really, we could probably bring in close to 30 million pounds if we could offload Lennon, Sigurdsson, Adebayor, and BAE this week. Throw in 85 million for Bale, and that's enough to go out and EASILY bring in Lamela, Chiriches, Coentrao, Eriksen, and a yet to be named striker.

I'm wondering if Hulk could also play the central striker role to cover Soldado if we let Adebayor leave?
