This is what worries me as it would seem that De Boer was our preferred option after LVG and now it seems like Poch is the favourite and the only reason that Levy could have changed his mind is the fact that one has talked to the press and one hasn't.

I would have hoped that playing style, philosophy, how their system would suit our players, man management skills, title winning experience etc would be some of the more important criteria when making a decision on the new manager, but I fear Levy wants above all a manager he can control.

Of course he does that is half the problem at the club what with committee's and so many different voices all adding their bit the job is is way too political imo.
We probably need the director general of the United nation's to manage our club and even then he would struggle.
As it's only only paper talk at the moment I will give this a a wide berth but if we go after someone like potinchino it would indicate Levy has learnt nothing from past mistakes.

High-line, 4-2-3-1 and high possession are features of most of the best sides over the last 5 years. We don't have to reject everything that is AVB-like because of AVB. If he'd executed them properly most of AVB's ideas are actually fairly good.

Not to mention that with a striker who was fit for a top 4-6 team in our ranks in the first half of the season we might still well be playing under AVB's management.

Someone like Ade?

LOL! I'm hoping that wasn't serious. So yes Ade had a good run of games, and for the last quarter of this season - ah yes back to his usual self. There is no team in the current top 4 that would play Ade (as he is now) as one of their regular strikers.

Be honest, our strikers this season have been woeful (for a team aiming at top 4 in the PL), and with no Bale to bail them out it's shown up big time.

On his day Ade is unplayable! Unfortunately he only turns up 1/3 of the season.

Pretty sure Arsenal and Chelsea wouldn't have minded a striker like Ade this season

Well, if FDB does become our next manager, I look forward to the next 18 months until he's given the elbow and we put Rory Allen in charge of the first team.
Oh and another thing that might help...From Saints Web

Could be bollocks but it's straw clutching time
Good mining, AB. Have some rep. Wouldn't put much stock in it though.

Hulk says hi
Apart from Falcao
I should "Spam" this like you did my AVB post but i'm not a gayer :bag:

Talking Spurs here. Not a team of Superstars in a weak Portuguese league.

-Wide forwards playing short and narrow, generally selected on terms of pace or workrate and not delivery or goals.
-Athletic CM's playing deep, with little vision or passing skills
-Only creative player (if actually selected over another 'athlete') always easily marked out the game by the two DM's most sides field against us

It means shit slow service for strikers because of a lack of creativity in the deep. And because the movement of the wide forwards and DM's doesn't interrupt the opposition back four our striker is left extremely well marked and covered. No striker is going to find it easy in a system like that.

At Porto the players like Moutinho, Hulk, Falcao etc solved the problems within the system he was playing, AVB just didn't realise how important it was those players were doing individually.

They would be the same superstars that did nothing the season before and only really became superstars at Porto under AVB?

And that would be the weak Portuguese league that regularly produces teams that hand the superior English teams their arses in Europe?

-Same rubbish argument as the one about AVB somehow being responsible for making Bale awesome

-8 of the Champions league finalists have been English since the Portuguese last put through one, a decade ago. Prem is a far higher quality league

Andre put Moutinho, Hulk, Falcao, etc in a position to suceed. Just like he did with Bale.
