Can anyone honestly see Levy paying the wages of a translator thats not actually needed by Pochettino? NO WAY!

Thats settled it for me, will 100% be FDB. Yay!!

Andre put Moutinho, Hulk, Falcao, etc in a position to suceed. Just like he did with Bale.

Moving Bale centrally was a mistake. The legacy of which carried over in to our style of play the following season and cost him his job.

And yeah it must be so hard putting Moutinho, Hulk and Falcao in a position to succeed. I know the current Spurs supremo would probably drop Moutinho for Bentaleb, send Hulk out on loan to Cardiff and play Falcao at left back but that's just Tim

Welllll the stats are quite interesting this season:

....................GAMES GOALS ASSISTS SHOTS
Lallana ......37 ..........9 6 68
Sigurdsson......24 ..........5 0 37

Assists aside, is quite close :bookworm:

:)

Just another glaring example of why the stats never tell the full story!

-Same rubbish argument as the one about AVB somehow being responsible for making Bale awesome

-8 of the Champions league finalists have been English since the Portuguese last put through one, a decade ago. Prem is a far higher quality league

How is it a rubbish argument, before AVB got there they won nothing. AVB got there after saving Academica from relegation and with little change to the squad won the lot.
Has nothing to do with Bale, just accept that AVB might actually a good coach but perhaps isn't suited to the Premier League.

TBF, when you're earning tens of thousands of pounds per week, you can probably afford to pay for your own translator.

I'd be interested to see what Siggy could do in a side like Southampton, think the guy is underrated by a lot of people. Lallana, Siggy, Rodriguez is a tidy attacking three

It's not really close. Lallana has contributed to 15 goals in 37 games. On average that's a goal every 2.46 games.
In contrast Siggy has contributed 5 goals in 24 at an average of a goal every 4.8 games.

Bale playing centrally was a mistake? The moment he got into that role playing more freely, he was lighting it up. Are you joking?

You obviously haven't taken travel expenses into consideration. No way will DL pay for FDB to come to London from Holland. Poch only 50 miles away. :D

It's not that close... I was being tongue in cheek, but it isn't light years either. No Assists is obviously a glaring gap, but goals and shots per game are pretty close tbh. but like Mr pink said, stats do not tell the full story... Especially given the fact that Lallana has been a mainstay in a very settled Southampton team and played 1 position vs Siggy who has had piecemeal starts and appearances in a butchered mislead side.

So the non full story thing works both ways.

Who knows what a Siggy could do if utilised correctly.

Trying to stay OT though, if it is PocketRockettino who gets the job, then I would prefer him to bring Shaw over Lallana IF it were a straight choice.

He's a good technical coach with a poor reading of the game. He's arrogant and set his teams out to play proactive anti-football designed to give as much possession of the ball to a world class forward line and let them get on with it. He doesn't understand team attacking football, is obsessed with a suicidal high line and falls out with important players. He's Mourinho mkII but without the leadership skills and understanding of football.

He'd be a good Real manager in a few years time, or do well in a weak league. But for teams like Liverpool, Spurs, Arsenal who have to compete without a forward line of superstars in an extremely competitive league he's shite

I wouldn't care if it was a gay choice - give me Shaw over Lallana every day for this team - massive upgrade over our current options.

It showcased Bale but it was bad for the team. It certainly didn't make him. I don't remember AVB being on the touchline when he score a hatrick away at Inter Milan.

Our play became about bullying other sides, generating possession and giving the ball to Bale. It wasn't about setting Bale up, it was giving him the ball and relying on him to do the rest. How many of Bale's goals were cleverly worked through balls? Team goals? Not many were there. Instead Bale should have been played off the striker from wide and we should have gotten a creative passer of the ball into midfield.

People seem to forget how shite we played last year under AVB. It was just the same turgid stuff this year, except this year we didn't have a red hot world class player to paper over the lack of team football.

Anyway fuck AVB. It's all off-topic, beyond I guess understanding what the new manager has to clear up from

The problem Levy and Spurs are going to have is that so many names are getting linked to the team that fans will start (ok, they already have) to get behind one manager or another, and when the decision is finally announced, you will have a very fractured fan base, some will be happy, but many will be disappointed their "guy" was not chosen. Thats going to lead to the inevitable "this never would have happened if Spurs chose __________" next season.

They have not asked me, but if I were in their position, I would quickly come to a decision, and start leaking that name to the press, even if the final details need to be worked out. At this stage Levy should know who is compatible, and by most accounts the front-runners all appear willing to come.
