Depends what you mean by "Liverpool will benefit". They will be the Club that employs Suarez and their reputation will reflect that, regardless of how hard they play the victimisation card.

True, their reputation will reflect it, but they'll care more about their "Goals For" column.

'The world governing body's disciplinary code has scope to suspend a player for a maximum of two years or 24 matches - which, by the letter of the law, can include club games but is normally limited to internationals. Liverpool, Suarez's club, had no comment to make on Tuesday. They have been here before, of course, and dealt with the fallout.'

If they really want to make an example of him this time, the ban should cover domestic football.

The punishment has to be heavy this time around otherwise it will happen again.
Has to be a whole season. Domestic and International. Think it will just be a ban for the rest of the WC though.

I don't think you get it mate. There is a line.

And it's not even a blurred one.
I don't think you get it either, of course there is a line, and biting is way past the line.

But you need to be close to the line, certainly closer than us as Spurs and England currently are, we are about as far away from the line as you can be!

There is a school of thought that FIFA will want to use this to boost their own standing at the moment. All the corruption stuff etc...here's an opportunity to demonstrate their high standards for fair play etc.

I can't. When a Spurs player cheats I get truly annoyed. And that's a dive, a bite is assualt. And he has form. Its like me condoning Charlie Adams breaking legs cos he's a spurs player. Bullshit! Suarez needs a long punishment, something that will hurt him financially. And After last World Cup's handball, you can tell he has zero respect for any authority. I'd go with docking Uruguay 5 points, banning Suarez for 10 internationals and for 30 league & cup games.

Then he might learn when his nation turns on him and his club fines him too.

I agree with this as well, I get annoyed by it, when one of our players cheats.

But, I also agree that it's that mentality that will always help us only ever be nearly men, rather than outright winners.

Sometimes I think a proper nasty **** in the middle would actually help us, rather than hinder us!

If I had my way it would be a three strikes and out! Year ban from all football.

You're incorrect.

Of the top of my head.

England 2003 Rugby
England 2005 Cricket
Bradly Wiggins 2012
Andy Murray.. I could go on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on and on.

oh fuck it I cant be bothered.

Give me ten nasty sides/individuals that have won something global (and before you say the Ashes isnt global it was basically the world cup final at that time)

You are good poster but you are so off the mark here.

Honestly, people you support him on this 3rd time incident are just as bad as him. How anyone can deny it or even say it's okay I do not know, it's disgusting.

It's a football match, not the Hunger Games Luis

Apparently FIFA can't impose a ban on him outside of internationals. He did bite a player from a UEFA nation though, so I guess they could take some kind of action too.
They can, its in the rules they can ban him from all association football. They just never done it before

They won't though.

It would be too tricky considering European working laws. He hasn't and wont be given a criminal record over this.

Liverpool would go to court and would win.

Little attention is being paid to the swollen cheekbone Suarez suffered in an earlier clash with an Italy defender.
Uruguay's UNoticias (in Spanish)

The English media have begun a campaign against Suarez. Uruguay's El Observador (in Spanish)

Are all Uruguayans retards? Well, Suarez and the writers of these articles must be. What the actual fuck?

Problem with a ban that covers ALL football (as much as it's needed) is that he will still get paid, so he'll carry on earning 100k+ per week doing nothing.

No they wouldnt win, its part of the rules that all clubs sign up for plus he can carry on playing for liverpool just not in a competitive match.

He has had a seven match ban that he didnt upheld for and if you take it to court you are liable for it to bite you on the arse. Like the defence wanting to test Suarez as what he did could count as life threatening if he has a certain disease that could be transmitted through a bite. Of course most of the viruses that are transmitted by a bite wouldnt do damage over a couple of a years

As I said earlier. Most countries media are not as tumescent with outrage as ours are.

I doubt it will make a footnote after he is banned for ten games and the second round starts.

Shit, when Ian Mckellan voices FIFA Brazil 2014 it will be lucky to get 30 seconds.

So those bindippers will be burning £100k+ per week, which means that will be £100k+ less per week they can spend on wages to improve their squad.

If he gets a season or two ban, he will get sacked.
You'd like to think so, but I suspect it won't be the case.
Up until last night he was easily a £75-80 million player.
A season long ban (which simply won't happen) would still see him return next year aged 28 and more than capable of winning games single-handedly for teams. Liverpool won't sack him while there is still money to be made.

It's incomparable to Chelsea sacking Mutu as that was for drug offences (and he only scored 6 in 27 for them).
Chelsea also then sued Mutu (successfully) for loss of earnings to the club. Because he then joined Juventus (via Livorno) both clubs also had to pay a portion of money.

Can you really see Liverpool sacking him and then demanding the equivalent of a transfer fee from him if he signs elsewhere at the end of the ban???

He should be getting absolutely pilloried by Liverpool and Uruguay fans which is why I don't understand the support he gets.

He missed the start of this season with Liverpool because of last year's bite, and with a few more of his goals at the start of the season who knows what that might have meant for the title race.

And Uruguay now go into the second round of the World Cup without their best player, because he has absolutely no self-control.

It really is odd that he gets so much support.
