As we get side tracked by our doomed, futile attempt to sign MS, I am getting very concerned by the lack of info re attacking players.

Re: Morgan Schneiderlin

"really pushing on this"

Is it being done like on Football Manager.....

First bid rejected.... Fuck it, add £250k
Second bid rejected... Fuck it, add another 250K plus 5% of future sale
Third bid rejected... For fuck's sake, add £3 million and 10% of future sale
Fourth bid accepted

All bids taking place in space of 10 mins!

Storts has just told me on twitter Welbeck is waiting on Falcao (seems common knowledge though).

I really have no faith in us signing anyone decent, if the ITK is right i'm sick of us leaving the big deals till late only to report "sorry, we tried" year after year.

I think they combine better than even Capoue - a little more steel in the CM 2 positions, while keeping the passing ability - but definitely gives us a great rotation.

Spurs will be terrific at keeping possession. Winning games is a different proposition.

Unlike the Moutinho day i'm not actually expecting us to sign Schneiderlin.

And moreso now that Stambouli appears to being super-close.

Just finally caught up, looks as though we are clearing out everything we can before making a move on incomings

Makes sense from a business point of view, ie keeping the books tidy. However, IF that is indeed the thought behind today's activity, it also means clubs we want layers from, will know we have more money available to spend, so would likely mean they demand more for any player we want. Make sense?

I think that people often forget that it's not just a case of going into the player store and picking up what we need. Levy is the chairman of the nearly men. We're top six but not quite top four anymore, so we can't always be doing deals in advance and deadline day is only so many hours. After that you've got to convince players to come. TThe ITK tells us we have to shift before we buy. Plus, last year we were arguably stung by our big spending in the sense that what we paid out didn't deliver at it's proper value. So I really don't think it's as simply as "Levy should make it happen or the manager will be unhappy". I think this is a very difficult window for us owning to past decisions.

That's all very well, but MS doesn't need convincing. He's desperate to join.

As for the have to offload before we buy, if Southmampton had accepted our bid already/hadn't moved the goal posts, he would already be our player.

Reading between the lines, I can't help but wonder whether MS is too expensive hence the signing of Stambouli and the late charge for J-Rod.

So, one final bid for MS. Should have been done the moment we signed Fazio instead of MM. I see no reason why Southampton would cave in today after MS played so well for them at the weekend.

This will all end with another "we tried, but it wasn't to be" story.
How are Southampton gonna find a replacement at this hour? Raider has gone as well, no fucking chance this will happen, not on your nelly!!!!
