If those Stambouli pics are true then I cant see us going for MS too, we'd have so many CM's.

Need someone up top.
Not nessa-celery!

I think Paulinho is going to be an AM3 opion along with Lamela, Chadli, Eriksen, Townsend and perhaps 1 more.

In CM this signing leaves us with Capoue, Stambouli, Bentaleb, Dembele. I think that's probably enough, but a 5th player for 2 positions isn't unheard of when you consider that Capoue and Stambouli are both emergency candidates for CB, while Dembele is likewise for the AM3. In a 25 man squad, you generally have space for 2 players per position, then a third goalie, a third CF (if you play with one up top) and a 5th CM (if you play with 2 in the middle). We also need to account for the fact that Bentaleb is a young player player who probably own't spend a whole season as nailed on first choice and Dembele is injury prone.

If we end up with Schneiderlin, Capoue, Stambouli, Bentaleb and Dembele as our CM2 options then we'll have depth in that role. Whether or not that's what you or I feel is right (I'm more of a 1 attacking player with 1 defensive player kind of guy like the Modric-Parker axis) doesn't really matter, as it seems to be what Pochettino would like and that's what is paramount here.

Stambouli's definitely signed now so I find it really strange that we are still trying for him, unless it's old info.
I think they combine better than even Capoue - a little more steel in the CM 2 positions, while keeping the passing ability - but definitely gives us a great rotation.

I'm always cautious and I'd advise exercising caution again. The problem with dealing late is that the asking prices change for better or for worse so you can't 'meet values' established earlier in the window, it doesn't work like that.

I'm not saying anything more til after the deadline. Good luck guys, its gonna be a bumpy ride.

There's going to be a lot of angry levy threads later as it fizzles out to nothing. same as there is with every deadline day window

I tend to agree with this. I reckon we'll be left with Welbeck, Stambouli and possibly Saido Mane if Lennon or Soldado leave.

Schneiderlin, Isco, Nastasic etc... are very unrealistic IMO.

Love you rebrab;) Enjoy the ride with us! Hang out here for a while! We could always use an ITK to keep us in check here while we get all optimistic and pessimistic(y)

keep the faith lads, Levy has to back Poch or face another AVB/Mout backlash
I think that people often forget that it's not just a case of going into the player store and picking up what we need. Levy is the chairman of the nearly men. We're top six but not quite top four anymore, so we can't always be doing deals in advance and deadline day is only so many hours. After that you've got to convince players to come. TThe ITK tells us we have to shift before we buy. Plus, last year we were arguably stung by our big spending in the sense that what we paid out didn't deliver at it's proper value. So I really don't think it's as simply as "Levy should make it happen or the manager will be unhappy". I think this is a very difficult window for us owning to past decisions.
