When the malignant dwarf appointed Poch to the seat of death a LOT of posters were suggesting we'd get the odd day like this, that Rome wasn't built in a day and how we'd have the occasional setback or two.

And so it comes to pass that it happens.

So i'm a bit surprised at the rush to stick our collective heads in the oven.

I think posters are more angry at him than at Poch.

Because, when you look at the his tenure, we are not talking about "getting the odd day like this".

Days like this seem to be his standard, not some random occurrences.

I agree with the notion that, on average, your league position corresponds to your budget. But that would make the specific chairman simply neutral to the success/failure. Anybody would be able to do the job.

Instead, his job is to give us that "extra" over other clubs, such that we can finally have a structural break and get to the next (higher) level. This means, e.g. appointing the "right" manager at the "right" time, selling the "right" players at the "right" time etc.

And he is failing at that. That's the problem and that's why I (and others) are so angry.

Back from the game. Wow we were bad. It looked like Paulinho ball watched and allowed Morrison a header from 6 yards. paulinho is terrible. He had a chance to play a through ball instead he dithered and dithered and dithered and played the ball out wide to rose which went for a throw.

Seems to be working for the best teams in England doesn't it? It's not about them being foregin.
My point was that other teams seem to have a good atmosphere even when it doesn't always go their way, we simply have had a shit atmosphere for a couple of seasons now.

Today is as bad as it gets! Make no mistake West Brom are a terrible team with a manager who makes Sherwood look like a genius! We were truely dreadful! I really hope this is the last season we see Adebayor in a Spurs shirt! He is a complete mercenary and waste of space puts no effort in at all! It's a joke that he is vice captain.

I don't doubt Poch with his system is a good manager ..hey, he proved it at Southampton...problem is our players don't fit that system. The fault lies at Levys Door.
I don't think he did prove it at Southampton, though. They finished 8th, which is more or less what they were good for. There was no over-achievement at all as far as I'm concerned.

WTF???

For the first time, I think the knee-jerkers are entitled to their rants. If you can't beat them...

The Baggies wanted it more. Lescott was MoM by a country mile. We still don't get the ball forward quickly enough. Player 1 I have always defended, Chiriches - sorry, but his head went down after his first mistake and he continued to get worse and his head go down more; Player 2 I have always defended, Paulinho, WTF little Paulie, it's a football, you pass it, end of story!
Poch - that could have been AVB or InterTim. Whatever you are trying to do, do it quicker, please! I still think he deserves time - but his choices were poor today. Especially his decision to play Younes with Chiriches. In his defence, it may be round 2 of his looking into their eyes and seeing if they have the hear to play football the way he wants it played - maybe needing to see certain players in action a few times before definitively putting them on the scrap-heap. Even still, it was poor, a poor pairing, performing poorly, making a pretty average team looking brilliant.

My only consolation is that United and Liverpool are just as shitty as us, ATM :)
Isn't that post missing another 10 paragraphs?. Poor show young man. ;)

We got outplayed today, did foster make a save ? The crowd turned on the players today as well , it was an awful atmosphere but it was so poor it was understandable.

I said after the west ham game that we were no stronger than last year and that has become more and more obvious

Luckily we didn't play Bentaleb in midfield or it could have been a lot worse...eh?

Overpaid pampered legends to a man i fucking hate the fact that for an average wage of 50k a week none of these c@#ts feel it's necessary to turn up and put a shift in. Modern day football is slowly killing my love of the game.
That's the way I feel sometimes, not all the time, but sometimes. They turn up and if they win, then they did their job and nothing more, and if they lose oh well, there always next week.

No club pride and no idea of club history. I'm fucking certain that if old time players (not even just old time players but people like King) lost a game like that it would be on their minds all week until the next game, and you can be sure they would hear about it from the likes of Bill Nicholson or Burkinshaw.

This lot gel their hair, put their beats on their head, climb into their expensive cars and fuck off to wherever they call home without a second thought about the loss or a look backwards, after all their job is safe.

"Occasional setback"

Aside from the QPR game (and they are cannon fodder) "occasional" should really mean perennial.

I don't doubt the qualities of our coah, but on the the field it's a one hunred million pound plus, bust.

That is as clear as the holes in our defense today.

I honestly just don't think we have the right blend of players at the moment. It doesn't matter what manager we have, the outcome will be very similar IMO.

And we got rid of good players and bought players with less spirit in my view.. We only play well when its easy if they have to work they give up

The phrase 'wet pussy' springs to mind after watching this game, and looking around the 14 that played I dont see many that didnt fit this phrase today.

Being the positive person I am, I can actually see a few chinks of light after todays shambles. Surely fans cant keep blaming the manager. Likewise the team on the pitch. As an earlier poster commented, you get what you pay for. That only leaves the owners and the board for supporters to aim their anger at. I couldnt make todays game, but hopefully recent the rumblings against ENIC i`ve been detecting recently have taken a massive boost forward today. For those who still insist we`re making progress with Lewis and Levy, hopefully this is the wake up call you all need. Clouds and silver linings like.
Positive person? Bloody hell I've heard it all now! :ROFLMAO:

It won't happen for at least two windows and knowing how we operate it will be heavily reliant on our ability to shift the likes of Soldado, Ade and Paulhino

We've done a lot of damage to ourselves with our player trading since the Bale sale window - we lost sight of building a team and seemed to only focus on the individual with no thought to how they will complement one another or address our needs as a squad of players

How have we spent so much money and still have no top level striker? or pace going forward? or a dominant CM? its crazy how we've destroyed such a great team in such a short period of time and while I can see how we still have that strong base and 3 key signings could get us right back up there I do agree with you that the practicality of getting the right 3 players in is like moving a mountain while Levy is in charge as we all know we'd have our 3 targets and end up with 3 cheaper and crapper alternatives who really don't solve the issue

Agree we dont need a lot but we do and will by cheaper alternatives that as you say dont solve anything plus it will take too long to get these in probably accross four Windows.
Which means Our best players want out as no top four or silverware in sight and We are back to the drawing board buying cheap replacements.
This summer showed with schniderlin who poch wanted We should have gone for him early in the window but No Levy thought he knew best and Waits and Waits to get him dirt cheap on the last day but in the meantime liverpool rape them and they decide not to sell.
So We End up with a cheap version in stambouli not really what we wanted because we want to save pennies it always costs us more in the long run.

What worries me is why can't our coaches see this? .. And also how has nobody taught Lennon to cross or andros to look up? ..we can see it!

Fuck knows, I don't see how they don't either. Ultimately at the end of their reign I put it down to being a substandard coach, this early on though I suspect Poch is easing his way into things and needs to kick arse and make changes. Things will take time though.

Its not just the usual suspects though, however much people don't want to hear it Eriksen and Lamela are as bad as the Townsend's and Lennon's in the squad... I lost count of the number of times today they didn't see a good option or ignored it in order to do some pointless bit of skill or made the game more difficult than it needed to be.

Too many players that seem to want to do something flash as soon as it gets to their feet in the squad. It needs to be drilled into them... Pass and move, minimum of fuss. Lets get the basics right first before trying all the fancy flicks and tricks.

Despite today's woeful result, I'm still behind Poch, for now.
I think he needs at least two seasons before we can really judge him.

However, he has to take some flak for today's selection of the starting eleven as well as choice of subs.

I also can't really fathom his choice of Kaboul as team Captain and Ade as VC.
