With the 4-2-3-1 formation and inverted wingers having Walker back and his forward runs make a big difference to how we play.

Great to see him back finally.

Hopefully that back5 can all stay fit so we can start to let them develop a partnership, they looked shaky at times but think most of that was due to Mason going off and us dropping too deep and not having a great deal of protection rather than each of their individual abilities.

And when we get DeYedlin we can shift Naughton.

Dier should be 3rd choice CB IMO to develop him. Chiriches is a car crash at CB and Kaboul isn't much better.

Walker has lacked any serious competition for years hopefully DeYedlin will give him some.

And Vlad did too.

Walker still can't pass for crap though, seriously needs to work on this. Granted he is coming back from injury, but still, even before then, his passing was poor at best.

I hope that him and Lamela can work out a partnership.
Linked up well today.
Gives width and pace going forward and for recovery.
Promising return.
Like the boy.

From what I have seen of Yedlin this side of the Pond, he isn't an upgrade on Naughton

Great to have Kyle back but he was frequently sloppy today. His misplaced pass out of defence led to Burnley's goal and there were other instances.

That said, he's only going to get fresher and better under Poch, building that partnership with Lamela.

I wouldn't say huge I'd say fucking huge, total different dimension and Lamela benefited so much from him today too, when he cut in Walker overlapped taking one of the two defenders on Lamela with him, leaving Eric space to play.
He is still a yard or more off his own pace yet so more to come.

With his age, nationality and ability he is just about up there with the most valuable right backs in the world

Huge difference with him in there. Just shows how poor naughton is tbh, dier I feel a bit for. Walker with vlad as the back up. yedlin will take a while to be up to speed

Absolutely. If you have inverted wingers, the WBs must bomb on and Dier is not one for that. Solid but not exciting. Him and Davies offer us a lot

Naughton doesn't really offer nothing, hrs just not adventurous enough to play in the formation. If he had a winger like Lennon ahead of him he'd be fine, but that's not going to be the case much of the time.

Which is fine, because Walker is a far better WB than Naughton is a FB and we should play to that strength.
